Craftsman is our Chocolate oatmeal stout. To brew it we add a proportion of organic oatmeal to the mash for a velvety smooth mouthfeel. and plenty of dark roasted coca nibs to the mash, boil and fermentor. The result is a rich, intense stout with notes of dark chocolate that gradually gives way to a subtle hop finish. With malt, coffee and chocolate flavours, Craftsman pairs well with any dessert, or match it with hearty fare such as venison and beef

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours very dark brown/black with a fizzy, but substantial, dark tan head that went down rapidly. Aroma is carbon dioxide and chocolate. Med minus body. Flavor is reminding me of a cookie of some sort. There’s a lot of dark chocolate and coffee. It’s lightly sweet in the finish, but the various bitters balance that out.

Clearly this must be an older bottle! Medium-dark brown body, copper highlights, lively tan head. Chocolate and bitter roast, somewhat hard mouthfeel, lively carbo. A bit on the thin side. I’m sure time has not served this beer well.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours black with a tan head that spurted from the bottle and a chocolate aroma. There is a very carbonated dry chocolate and coffee flavor. The chocolate is nice, but the body is a bit thin.

500 ml bottle from the Party Source at home. Pours a dark brown color with reddish highlights and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate, oatmeal sweetness, thin, shows some age, ok but I wouldn’t buy this again.

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Roast and light coffee aroma with light chocolate. Malt and light caramel flavor with chocolate. Medium bodied. Chocolate and light caramel lingers with light earthiness.

Sample I got fizzed quite a bit, if not volcanically, so have a towel handy. It pours a warm sable with a very thick, fluffy, rather persistent tan head. Rick, smoky aroma has notes of quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and brown sugar with some nutty and earthy hints.. Slightly powdery texture has average body but plenty of fizz, and leaves a chocolaty, earthy finish. Overall, a well-crafted beer.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a ridiculously thick tan head. Lots of chocolatey maltiness to the nose on this one. Nice and chocolate notes to the taste, too, though it’s awfully carbonated.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2012 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a slight brown tinge on the edges. A small tan head is produced. Although simple, the aroma is chocolate covered raisins. Very nice. Loads of dry cocoa comes through in the taste, backed by dark fruits and more chocolate. Cocoa lingers for ages. Quite full bodied mouth feel. Although this beer is very simple, it has done what it has been set out to do very well - even won the best beer at the AIBA’s. After having a bottle a year old, it has changed nicely. Quite a different beer. Seem to get some whiskey notes on the nose which was nice. Th chocolate was more of a powdery cocoa in the taste than chocolate covered dark fruits as well. Although it was quite oxidised, it tasted great

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an oily dark brown with modest-sized light brown head. Aroma is dark roasty chocolate, coffee and nuts. Flavour is lots of roasty, dark cocoa, earthy coffee character and light nuts and fruit. A bit dry in the finish. Nice.
