Craftsman is our Chocolate oatmeal stout. To brew it we add a proportion of organic oatmeal to the mash for a velvety smooth mouthfeel. and plenty of dark roasted coca nibs to the mash, boil and fermentor. The result is a rich, intense stout with notes of dark chocolate that gradually gives way to a subtle hop finish. With malt, coffee and chocolate flavours, Craftsman pairs well with any dessert, or match it with hearty fare such as venison and beef

Poured a huge brownish foamy and creamy head. Has an extremely dark blackish appearance. Thick lacing. Aromas of dark cocoa, coffee, and even a faint soya type smell, not offensive. Intensely flavourful. Has the usual suspects as in chocolate, mocha, coffee but as well as notes of oatmeal, barley and a hint of vanilla. Mouthfeel a bit watery at first, but when settled in, has a nice thick creamy mouthfeel. Very good.

500 ml bottle picked up locally from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have mild roasted malt, dark chocolate, hints of oatmeal, bittersweet, dry, a bit watery, nose was probably a little better than the flavor.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown. No cap. Aroma of chocolate cereal, softly roasted malt. Taste is sweet, and dark chocolate bitter. Palate is relatively clean, chewy and dry finish with medium carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2015 liquid dark chocolate beer, amazing taste, smell the chocolate from the minute you open the bottle. Many others have tried the chocolate beer before, this one succeeds where all others have failed. Had it a 2nd time, this batch was not nearly as flavorsome and was over carbonated.

Had the bottle at a party, so, not sure of the year but based on the quantity of rating, I wager it was 2012. Black pour under a generous rocky light tan head. The aroma, weirdly, is a bit chocolaty and like soy sauce at the same time. There’s a bit too much carbonation but there’s a nice big flavorful body. Unfortunately, that soy sauce tone is present, but also with a semisweet chocolaty earthy flavor. Kinda all over the place.

[5371-20130520] 500mL bottle. Dark fruity malt aroma. Black brown body with a quick foamy tan head. Sweet chocolate malt roast flavour. Full body. Really interesting but super chocolaty -- Never thought I could say that. (7/3/7/3/15) 3.5

Visual: "Winner of the Australian International Beer Award 2011 Champion Stout". Pours super dark brown with barely any head, very thin ringed retention, some activity on the surface. Nose: Very deep roasted coffee and liquid chocolate. (10)-aromatic strength. Attack: deep richness, syrupy mouthfeel Mid-palate: (6)-sweetness, (MAIN) mocha, vanilla, roasted coffee, malts, cola Finish: light alcohol, malty-roasted bitter finish. Summary: A very nice balance of bittersweet flavours. Decent body but more creaminess and a bit thicker mouthfeel would’ve made this super awesome. (Note: numbers above are on a 10-point weak-strong scale)

500ml brown bottle. Black pour, low sitting creamy tan head. Nose has rich cocoa/chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste has vanilla, coffee grounds, chocolate. Finish has roast, and lots of lingering cocoa and bitter coffee. Body is light and carbonation mild. Overall, a good beer, but would have liked a bit more mouthfeel. Coffee and cocoa notes were nice though.
