3.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 19, 2008 This is my second attempt at this one, the first time i tried this it promised much but delivered little....this time it kicks ass! i think this is going to become a favourite of mine! great nose, it’s all passionfruit and pine resin, looks good in the glass and tastes great, more of that pine resin passionfruit flavour. It’s like a dialled down version of ’monks habit’ and ’mayhem’ almost a session version. My only critisism is that it’s a bit light on the palate for me but hey it’s still going to be a must have in the fridge.

Pours an ever-so-slightly hazy dark yellow. Small white diminishing head. Light sweetness moderate bitterness. Malty aromas of grain and caramel. Quite hoppy with aromas of citrus and a hint of resin. Medium bodied. medium carbonation. Long bitter ffinish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
floral, citrus, cereal, banana, ginger,
nice warm gold with rich white head. chill haze thicker than most but certainly not murky.
An immediate blast of fruity esthers and floral notes from Cascade hops, followed quickly by hop bitterness. finish is dry and refreshing, slightly sweet and wheaty -- reminiscent of German Weiss.
piquant carbonation makes for a fluffy sensation on the tongue, finishes crisp and refreshing but a little hollow mid-swallow.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Last one from my 4 pack, but not my last one from this brewery. This bottle poured an attractive amber colour with slighly more carbonation than the other in the range, an off white head . The beer smells of citrus and grapefruit which I am told is a characteristic of the american hop that was used. The taste is well balanced and interesting more delicate than the others, very drinkable. The finish is very resiny and lingering with a citrus taste which is slightly bitter and refreshing. A great beer for a hot day.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy golden with a dense, off-white head. Vague aroma of citrus and peach. Medium body with light caramel notes and a peachy touch from the aroma hops that also leave a solid bitterness. The brewery’s "Perfection English Pale Ale" tastes almost more American than this one. 050208

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light golden slightly hazy body and normal size head. Citrus and some "spicy" elements in the nose. Complex taste with hops and citrus dominating. Fresh and light in feeling.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, pours an amber-tinged gold with a creamy white head. The aroma spews forth from the first splash in the bottom of the glass, all juicy malt and spicy hops - with plenty of the nettle that others mention. The malt is pretty much dominated in the mouth by the resiny hops and their accompanied bitterness. The palate is somewhat thin and has an astringent finish. But I guess it is true to it’s American style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2008 Retasted 07/06/2008. No more issues with this beer - it is now an off-dry bitter beast. Clean malt character, grassy/pine hop flavour and kick-ass bitterness! Too much? Tasted 22/01/2008. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits on the way home from work. This rating has been a long time coming. Pale gold. Bright. Airy and diminishing lacy white head paints a pretty picture as I work through the glass. Mild malt nose with a hint of herbal hop. Good weight and carbonation but the big nettle-like hop flavour - quite harsh - isn’t quite carried by the mild pale malt flavour. A little metal in there. Quite astringent. Almost unfinishable but something kept me going back for more. I’m glad the green apple has gone but there is a lot of harsh hop character to get rid of here. Two steps forward, one step back.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber; commercial looking with a medium sized white head. Mild nose of herbal hops, nettles, some fruit. Good depth despite the elegant persistence. Very light to taste but well structured. More hops, grape friuts, some bitterness, a rusty feel and taste. Wide, broad palate, Classy but mild, and at 4.5% so it should be. Beautifully packaged BTW.
