kempicus (166), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 12, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2008 This is my second attempt at this one, the first time i tried this it promised much but delivered little....this time it kicks ass! i think this is going to become a favourite of mine! great nose, it’s all passionfruit and pine resin, looks good in the glass and tastes great, more of that pine resin passionfruit flavour. It’s like a dialled down version of ’monks habit’ and ’mayhem’ almost a session version. My only critisism is that it’s a bit light on the palate for me but hey it’s still going to be a must have in the fridge.
Chrism86 (78), Melbourne, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Poured golden yellow with a loosely packed white collar of foam. Aromas are more in the floral spectrum with some citrus coming into play. Palate is more of the same, not quite as much tropical fruit as i’d expected. Caramel malt and dry hop presence give a feint resiny bitterness, while palate is relatively light. Pleasant, but not overly impressed. Kiwi_Jonno (41), Christchurch, New Zealand Aug 19, 2008 500mL Bottle. Strong and very pleasant passionfruit aroma. Pours a amber beer thats slighty cloudy - Small white head. Tastes of passionfruit and slight citrus dominate this beer also with caramel malt notes. Ends with quite a bitter finish on the roof of your mouth. I have to agree with others that its a little thin mid swallow. Flavours are very seperated from each other unlike something like Epic Pale Ale - perhaps something is missing for this to be a GREAT beer. sunevdj (1384), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 8, 2008 Pours an ever-so-slightly hazy dark yellow. Small white diminishing head. Light sweetness moderate bitterness. Malty aromas of grain and caramel. Quite hoppy with aromas of citrus and a hint of resin. Medium bodied. medium carbonation. Long bitter ffinish. FindingQuality (1), New Zealand does not count Mar 3, 2008 floral, citrus, cereal, banana, ginger,
nice warm gold with rich white head. chill haze thicker than most but certainly not murky.
An immediate blast of fruity esthers and floral notes from Cascade hops, followed quickly by hop bitterness. finish is dry and refreshing, slightly sweet and wheaty -- reminiscent of German Weiss.
piquant carbonation makes for a fluffy sensation on the tongue, finishes crisp and refreshing but a little hollow mid-swallow.
