This award winning ale is called "Elemental" porter. It is a classic English porter. It is a medium bodied beer with chocolate, and roasted notes. Extremely well balanced and hopped using a New Zealand hop variety.

This is my favourite beer style ,what a great 4 pack from this brewery. The bottle poured an inky black with a fluffy tan head, very tight bubbles. The scent of this beer was coffeeish and chocolaty with hints of ripe plums. The creamy rich head was followed by an intense flavour dominated by roasted notes and sweet caramel, finishing with a lovely chocolate sensation. The lingering flavour was still around well after the bottle was gone. This beer is truely a stand out in their range and accordingly this is the brewers favourite style.

Yes. This is wonderful. Caramel notes float over a floral bed, leading you down to a rich deep purple-tinged ale, while the head holds strongly white above. My first taste was sweet then, boom, round complex flavours hit the tounge to fade to a smooth warm aftertaste. And the second sip is even better. Amazing stuff.

Bottle 500ml. Unique beer. Aromas are intense: roasted malt, flowers, dark fruit, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste has a sweet start, with bitterness taking over for a long finish. Velvety palate, with a medium-to-full body. Black colour, with a frothy white head.

in bottiglia @ Brasserie 4:20, Roma. Wow! Una delle migliori porter mai bevute! Una delle poche birre neozelandesi che fanno un uso corretto di luppoli neozelandesi (sembra un controsenso, ma non lo è affatto). Grandioso sapore tostato e speziato con note di cioccolata. BIS!

Massive chocolate aroma, roasted tempered bitterness. Sweet potentially lactose element. Pleasing rich body. Excellent taste & overall tasty beverage

God this was good! So smooth like a milk shake almost. Thin but rich. Not an intense flavour but subtle, rich, creamy flavours of mocha and rich malts. So well made! Would be perfectly pulled off the hand pump. Looking forward to getting back to NZ for this one!

Intense aroma. Opened it and left it on the table to warm a touch and I was overwhelmed with the roasted, chocolate aroma from a good meter away almost instantly. Pour is pure black with a deep beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, light sourness, biscuit, and over-ripened fruit. Medium to full body. Flavor is marked by dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, tobacco, leather, ripe fruit, a hint of dough, and a spark of fruit and bitter in the finish. I’ve had a fair amount of overhyped NZ brews lately but this is anything but overrated. Simply an awesome porter. I’ll be grabbing some for the trip home.

Pours a dark, near black. Thin mocha head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malts, and dark chocolate. Whets the appetite just inhaling this one. Tastes are dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa nibs. Overall, creamy, with the bitterness, of coffee and dark chocolate. This is why craft brewing was invented. A superior brew.

This is one of the most balanced porters I have tasted in Australasia. I love the New Zealand beers that are finding their way to Melbourne at the moment, and this is one of the best with a toasty, coffee and chocolate nose and a full suptuous palate. Yum.
