Aroma of sweet passionfruit, very faint resin. Tan head. Tastes hoppy, resin, coffee, chocolate, bit sweet, burnt malt. Dry palate, a bit slick, slightly astringent.

Narkee (12) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 12, 2014
Pours black with a purple tinge when held to the light. Finger width head which has strong retention. Aroma is strong pine with subtle coffee, mango and grass. Bitterness upfront which mellows and driven by pine and a malt sweetness. This carries through with a strong favour of roasted coffee beans. This is an absolutely cracking beer.

Davros (1939) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - AUG 26, 2014
Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma of piny and grapefruit-like hops alongside some roast, spicy rye, passionfruit and peach. Similarly fruity flavours, more passion fruit and gentle roast. Not as much rye though.

danlo (1161) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2014
500ml bottle. Black-brown colour, foamy tan head and aroma of fruity hops and roast malt. Taste is sweetish roast malt & chocolate with fruity hoppy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Very drinkable black IPA.

phaleslu (6496) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 23, 2014
Draft at Ei8ht Ball, in a tasting glass. Pours a somewhat cloudy brown with a small khaki head. Notes of toasted and roasted malts, rye, earth, lighter coffee roast, and chocolate. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, toasty mouthfeel. Another nice Renaissance beer. I like these guys.

Tmoney99 (10660) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 11, 2014
Tap sample. Poured black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with a dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good complex beer.

b3shine (5425) - Indiana, USA - APR 4, 2014
Draft to taster. Looks solid; a translucent dark hazelnut brown with off-white lacing. Smells spicy with notes of dark malt, roast, and piney hops. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust. Average on the palate. Not bad, but smells better than it tastes.

JonMoore (1858) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2014
Bottle - black with thick beige head. Aroma of pine and dark fruit. Taste is nicely bitter, chocolate, brown sugar. Medium bodied, quite carbonated. A bit porter ish for a BIPA, but very good regardless.
