"Great Punkin" Brewed with roasted pumpkin and a blend of spices to yield ’pumpkin pie’ notes and a deep red/orange colour. Lightly hopped with NZ Fuggle and fermented with ale yeast; medium body and moderate bitterness allow the flavour of pumpkin, spice and caramelized malts to shine through. Special thanks to Andy, Jim, Holly and JDawg.

Super rich, fairly complex, thick and chewy pumpkin brew. Blood orange pour with an eggshell head. Guard meat, nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel, vanilla, and honey. A pretty damn good representation of the style.

Bottle. Poured clear orange color with an average off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid pumpkin spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium pumpkin sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft seasonal beer.

500mL, no date from Olive Tree Market in OB, $11.49 back in fall of 2013. Speed rate. Hazy medium brown body with a ¼" beige head, low retention. Overall it’s like a spiced Scotch ale. Chewy toffee and nutmeg dominate. Scant earthy bitterness in the finish. A little bit oxidized and a scant tang also present, showing its over a year old. A little lower on the carbonation than I’d like, making the ample body seem even fuller. OK. Not $12 ok, though.

Both light and sweet in approach with mineral and caramel and some vanilla setting off the allspice & clovey hints. Dark and clear with an off white head. Moderate bitterness works well. Unusually nice top notes. Likely one of the better ones from this Kiwi brewer.

500ml bottle, from Party Source. Red brown color. Bricky mahagony type color. Pretty much no head nor lace. Just a thin greyish khaki amount that quickly fizzes away after pouring. Looks kind of lame in the glass, but it’s not bad. Kind of what you expect flavor wise -- great blend of toasty pumpkin and spice -- but it’s a bit darker and maltier in the flavor than typical for the style, too. Mild caramel malt, and some nice hints of chocolate, that’s a welcome surprise. Pretty nice, complex flavor for a pumpkin ale, great balance. Moderate sweet taste, with the perfect amount of light spice (lighter than typical for the style) to balance it out. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of soft, very light carbonation -- makes for some easy-drinking. Light slick. Very tasty, easy-drinking pumpkin ale. Better than expected.

Finally my first pumpkin ale. Pours a dark red orange color with a nice creamy dark beige head. Aroma of malt and spices. Flavors are earthy, fruity, peppery, woody, pumpkin spices, malts. Nice warm medium body, slightly sour, light sweetness, and light bitterness, with a dry finish. Nice balance of warm and earth fruity flavors. Very much a good desert. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Will drink again. Great Pumpkin Ale.

Bottle. Pours an amber orange with a beige head and spiced, pumpkin pie aroma. Taste is light, spicy with cinnamon, allspice, and pumpkin pie flavors into the fall spiced, dry finish. Very drinkable pumpkin brew
