COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Great Punkin" Brewed with roasted pumpkin and a blend of spices to yield ’pumpkin pie’ notes and a deep red/orange colour. Lightly hopped with NZ Fuggle and fermented with ale yeast; medium body and moderate bitterness allow the flavour of pumpkin, spice and caramelized malts to shine through. Special thanks to Andy, Jim, Holly and JDawg.

Not a bad beer. Far nicer than the Murrays offering. A good looking and tasting beer, however the flavours are a little underwhelming.

Thin is how I would describe this beer. To be kinder, thin for the promise that it could have had. I wanted to be assaulted by the flavours, instead it was more of a slap in the face by a wet kipper.

Draught (fake cask?) at Dodson Street beer garden, Blenheim.
Had no idea the ABV of this until now, oops! Dark brown with autolysed yeast marmite and dark chocolate nose. Thick and sweet, fairly spicy, cinnamon comes through in the finish.

I’m not sure I can nail down any particular taste as an individual taste, this is going quietly about being a good beer, and being very good about it. I would have enjoyed more head, and some lacing in the glass if I was being picky. But this shouldn’t put you off.

This beer is just... wholesome. Like pumpkin pie, perhaps? There’s a solid round roasty bitterness on the nose, in the mouth it feels full and filling. The roasted flavours fit nicely around the sweet malt and slightly bitter hops, and I just want to slowly sip it in front of a roaring fire... but it’s working just fine on this sunny summery afternoon too!

Well, the label certainly didn’t lie. This is a lovely rich red/orange colour that had a very temporary head. Aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg and caramelised pumpkin. This is a whopper of an aroma that I’m just not used to. Fortunately, this beer is super easy on the palate upon drinking. A little sweet with roast pumpkin coming through as the show stopper. There’s a spices there of course, but this beer is like the crispy burnt bits at the bottom of the roasting pan. I love those bits and I’m sure there’s something in this beer for everyone. The finish is enduring and becomes spicier.
