500ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Dark brown cola colour with a slight head that drifts away. Lots of fruity aromas make thus a pleasing beer.thin bodied but in a good way.

Pours copper with a quickly fading head.
Nose shows bready malt with melanoidin and golden syrup notes too. A faint savoury note too.
Similar flavours, very malty and moreish. More bready and raisin notes. Long lasting finish.
Could use more carbonation, almost flat at the moment.

Iím intrigued by the polarised ratings so far from reviewers that I have no reason not to trust their intuitive nous for unusual beers, I love a dark beer and this is on the dark side with ruby port notes. Throw on a cream coloured head and thereís your appearance description. For aroma it smells of walnuts, carob (I hate carob), pieces of dark chocolate, muscatel raisins before becoming plummy and spicy like so many top-end Belgian ales I have had before. Grated chocolate and carob leap to mind and then I put them aside before I taste.
It is moist and cake-like in the mouth, as if this beer should have come on a doily and with a small glass of Benedictine. I get the raisin and I immediately make an attachment to beers like St Bernardus that I have loved in the past. This makes this beer a favourite in my tiny mind.
On second thoughts... yes, still a celebration that I am glad I have had.
Did I mention flavours of old cognac?

I donít think this is a clever beer. Itís a clever idea, but then you realise why no one has done it before. It doesnít work. Itís a bit unpleasant. The aroma wanders around from raisin and that of rubber glue. There is a tart under note that lingers around being a nuisance, it pours like itís flat with little carbonation. As to ípassioní that might have been the íangstí that the brewer had and not a reference to a fruit. But then I might not be enlightened enough.

Little concerned about the secret method and 27% passion.... Aroma is quite closed, even on a bottle that was drunk at near room temp. It is once you put it into your mouth that this beer becomes interesting. Big raisins while not being too syrupy to make it overpowering. Nice rich deep brown colour and not overly carbonated.
