Stonefruit aroma of peach, apricot and caramel. The flavour is rich caramel malt, peach and apricot. Heaps of bitterness on the palate that lingers right through to the finish and then some. No sign of the strong ABV whatsoever. The end result is a unique IPA and while I may have been expecting something slightly more refined I can’t help but want to try this beer again.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Intersting beer. On the first sip the AA hops hit the back of the mouth and really created an impression. Quite bitter. In terms of flavour it was a new experience for me this hop definetely has potential, but more for bittering than flavouring or aroma. A reasonably big beer which is a bit rough around the edges, but with a roguish charm. BeerChaser0078 (330), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazy copper with a short lasting white head. Aroma is very hoppy and floral with lavender and rose water standing out and a hint of toffee in the background. Flavour still has a bit of hoppiness to it but is equally caramel/ malt driven. The Rakau hops certainly are different and consequently this beer is too but in a nice way. Probably closer to an IIPA, like the label says, rather than an IPA, very enjoyable nonetheless. beerledgend (919), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2009 Lovely copper-dark colour. Fruity-resinous hop nose with a touch of alcohol. Enourmous hop profile with a distinct character I have never tasted before. it must be those Rakau hops they mention on the bottle. Some malt character present, but very much in the background. Quite harsh on the palate. snuffla (96), Chch, New Zealand

Pours pale amber with a wispy and slightly oily head presumably thanks to the large volume of hops - read something about 250 hops per litre, so 125 in a bot is good going. But i’ve idea where they have gone.
Flavour reminds me a bit of sucking on a peach stone to try and get the last of the taste off, some peach, and a lingering bitterness that lasts for at least 30 seconds. Smooth, and slightly warm from the alcohol.
Good, but expected a lot more Alasdair (76), New Zealand
