COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by actual San Diegans, six generous additions of New Zealand hop varieties give the brew depth and intensity of hop character and aroma. Four malts are used to balance out this "hop bomb" leaving the ale rich with toast biscuit notes and a light amber colour.

A nicely balanced beer where the malts tame the hops. Big on flavour that lingers nicely on the palate. This is unfortunately another beer from Renaissance that wont get the recognition it deserves.

500 ML bottle Dark orange amber color. Much darker looking pale ale. Just a thin layer for a collar. Big malt nose backed by stone fruit and overripe orange. Lots of bread and biscuit notes that strangle the hop aroma. Taste is a lot of toasted bread notes followed by over ripe orange and stone fruit. Opposite of the nose the hops really shine and the malt takes a back seat. Really forward bitter and aggressive. Feel is very oily and quite heavy. More of an imperial pale ale. Enough carbonation to cut through this but feels a lot heavier than it should. Oily pine, grapefruit and orange finish. Solid Kiwi beer

Hazy amber colour with a stubborn film of head and good lace left behind. Again (for the establishment that poured me the pint) to bloody cold. The aroma was stunted but I could garner ripe stonefruit and plenty of resinous American hops.. The flavour dwelt mainly in overripe fruits, blue cheese and cheese rind similar to to the Marlborough Pale Ale. A big beer, made easier by the coldness but still hints that one or two will mean a peaceful easy sleep this afternoon. Beautiful tangy malts that seem to have cues of tangerine peel and peaches. Quite gorgeous. What a shame about the temperature. I would have liked to have awarded it more (and may yet do so).
