This is the big, hearty ’red wine’ of our range. Nine malts are blended to produce layers of caramel, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours and these are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to a lingering dry finish. Rich, full bodied. warming and moreish. Stonecutter pairs well with venison, roast beef or lamb, or the heartiest casseroles and stews. For dessert try with a creme brulee or, of course, Scottish shortbread.

500ml bottle 7% Bb 10/2014 served in a stemmed tulip glass in Ohakune, NZ Pours clear, deep reddish-amber color with a creamy and durable light brown head. Excellent lacing. Sweet malts, caramel, medium roasted malts and hints of wood, dark fruits. Flavor: unexpectedly smokey, given that this didn’t show in the nose. The peat smoke is fairly well matched by the complex malt blend. Hints of licorice, toffee, raisins and dates. Feel: smooth, medium-full body. Excellent soft carbonation. O: a hearty recommendation.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Dark brown color with small head. Aroma and flavor are based on a good dark caramel; there is also a good flavor of malt and an evident nutty character; moderate bitterness, low residual sweetness.

Lagerboy (1490) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 24, 2013
500 ml bottle. Unclear deep red copper, foamy tan head settles and fades. Rich dark malt aroma. Dark roast sweet malt taste, toffee, caramel, dark fruits, treacle. Soft carbonation, medium-full bodied, moderately hopped. Dark fruits tarten a bit as it warms towards a vinous port-like finish. Really good but DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

Packaged in an elegant 500ml bottle, its label design is exquisite. Once opened, we get a dark brown beer, with a creamy beige head. Bringing the nose, we can inspire intense aroma of malts, with hints of caramel, chocolate and coffee. At that moment and we sense the spirit of its 7% ABV. In palate, it has a perfect body, dressed for the occasion in a tight balance of malts with fruity and perfect alcoholic notes. Great beer that is enjoyed from beginning to end.

500ml bottle to tulip glass, beer pours a hazy dark red/brown with a mocha colored head. Aroma consists of chocolate, coffee, spices, fruitcake, licorice and other complexities. Taste mirrors the aroma...the beer is quite rich in flavour...lots of coffee, burnt caramel, butterscotch, ripe dark fruit, chocolate... Palate is full bodied, co2 medium, incredibly smooth. Overall a very nice beer, bit pricey but most of this stuff is.
