This is the big, hearty ’red wine’ of our range. Nine malts are blended to produce layers of caramel, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours and these are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to a lingering dry finish. Rich, full bodied. warming and moreish. Stonecutter pairs well with venison, roast beef or lamb, or the heartiest casseroles and stews. For dessert try with a creme brulee or, of course, Scottish shortbread.

***Kanske fel på flaskan*** Brun i färgen med litet vitt skum. Doftar sur/sött med choklad malt och vanilj. Tyvärr riktigt syrlig och grönsakig.

On tap @ Eureka Cafe and Bar, Dunedin, New Zealand. Appears dark amber-brown with a small off white head. Distinct smoky aromas on top of raisins, nuts, cherries, caramel and hints of moccha and liquorice. Palate is smooth and not too sweet and rich making it quite quaffable for the style. Finishes dryish with an alcoholic presence. Quite a lot going on here and overall very enjoyable.

500ml bottle pours an amber color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing behind. Aroma is caramel with a slight hint of peat. Taste is a slightly smoky presence with a caramel malty sweetness and a pleasant sweet harmony from another vocalist. Medium bodied with a chance of survival.

Hazy deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is slightly thick and a little soft. Good dose of prickly carbonation. Rich malt, slightly dark in character and a little smoky. Mild malt cream and a brief peach note. Dry finish, sweet malt aftertaste. Not bad.

Pours a garnet color with excellent carbonation and head retention. Slight lacing. Clarity is brilliant. Aroma is complex maltiness with a wonderful hit of peat smoked malt, with an amazing hint of blue cheese like earthiness. Tastes of the gods, warm smoky, malty and a trace of new world hops. Finish is rich, warm and pleasant. World class beer.

A decent beer, but nothing special. Pours a thick brown. Smells nutty. Taste is much the same, a little hoppy, nutty. Had in the bottle at New Years. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Scott for my b-day. Aroma and flavor of peat, licorice, and dark fruit, among the breadiness. This is no US-brewed Scotch ale. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
