COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the big, hearty íred wineí of our range. Nine malts are blended to produce layers of caramel, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours and these are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to a lingering dry finish. Rich, full bodied. warming and moreish. Stonecutter pairs well with venison, roast beef or lamb, or the heartiest casseroles and stews. For dessert try with a creme brulee or, of course, Scottish shortbread.

Favourite Renaissance brew. Enjoyed at Dodsons. Great malty, caramel, dark cocoa chocolate notes. Great changes between nose, taste and aftertaste. Woody floral nose. Fuller bodied, creamy, long finish.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2008 Just had this on tap and it seems that the recipe has changed slightly, the peppery hoppiness has been slightly dialed down and juicey malt is even more prominent, itís now dark fruit sweet and it tastes GOOD! Malt Malt Malt! Iím a big fan of hoppy beers but i love this beer, itís enormous on the palate and in flavour and i canít get enough of it!

I found this beer at Hillsdene Wine Cellars in Tauranga. As a woman I was immediately drawn to the attractive packaging, I bought one of the breweries 4 pack samplers. The beer poured a dark brown ,with a creamy tan head and when held up to the light a beautiful ruby colour shown through. The scent was a slightly smoky ,caramel ,and almost raisny, surprisingly not strongly alcholic for a big beer. The taste was very malty and complex sweet toffee, and raisins, creamy and slightly smoky at the finish, with a pleasant lingering hoppiness. The body of this beer is fat and almost chewy with low carbonation and again so well balanced that the 7% is virtualy undetectable. I will be back for more of this delicious beer, glad itís available locally!

Dark reddish brown. Smells of Carmel leathery malts. Smokey rich raisin prune taste. The smoke keep the sweetness in control.

A think beer fully charged on all the malty taste, like an expresso of ale. Best drink with some cheese caramel, chocolate, coffee, toast, roasty, brown foam, brown, thick feel,

Packaged in an elegant 500ml bottle, its label design is exquisite. Once opened, we get a dark brown beer, with a creamy beige head. Bringing the nose, we can inspire intense aroma of malts, with hints of caramel, chocolate and coffee. At that moment and we sense the spirit of its 7% ABV. In palate, it has a perfect body, dressed for the occasion in a tight balance of malts with fruity and perfect alcoholic notes. Great beer that is enjoyed from beginning to end.

Bottle. Fantastic beer. Aroma has roasted caramel, toffee, and wood. Flavour has sweet and bitter notes, and it lasts long. Creamy palate, and medium-full body. Dark brown colour, with an off-white fizzy head.

Pretty blown away by this beer, struggling to find any kind of flaw with it. From bottle. Pours dark dark red, almost purple with small well retained off white head. Leathery aroma, rich and malty, smells sweet, molasses. Taste has molasses, dark sugar, dark fruits, hint of chocolate, lots of toffee, caramel, vanilla, cola, wood. Perfect on the palate, finishes well, not too sweet, not sticky, enough bitterness to clear it down smoothly. Nails this style

500ml bottle. Deep dark coppery brown with a full coffee coloured dense foam. Coffee beans, toffee and roasted malts in the aroma with a hint of aniseed. Long dry finish with a smoky flavour that rolls around the mouth. Another good beer from Renaissance.
