Not usually something I drink but I enjoyed making an exception for this. A complex, full bodied brew that would go well with strong foods like venison or deserts like chocolate. Definitely worth trying if you usually pass on barley wine.

Think this beer is developing quite nicely - tried it a year ago and did not thing too much of it but now it is starting to be very raisined and unctuous.

330ml bottle. Pours an opaque deep chestnut, with a tiny off-white head, which lasts reasonably well, but does not leave much lacing. Prune, muscat and biscuit malt notes make up the aroma. Fairly strong spice and floral hops up front lead into a rich, sweet blend of biscuit, prune and stewed fruit in the mid-palate. Muscat comes in at the finish, and there is a sweetly alcoholic aftertaste. This a rich, full-bodied and quite pleasant barley wine.

A stunning beer, Lots of tastes, I got cherry, strawberry, and enjoyed the chocolate from the roastings. Lots of body ,lots of length. slightly y cloudy pour and a deep rich colour. Not for quaffing, but to finish your evening and enjoy something with a strong enough taste to stand up to it.

This beer is (alongside the 2012 MPA) one of renaissance best. It was lovely and balanced, with the chewy malt to it. A really nice British barley wine. I thoroughly enjoyed the full flavours and the gentle ETOH presence. What a winner!

Bottled. Got this beer from Andy when visiting the brewery somewhere after Christmas 2011. As promised, me and my wife waited a year to open it. :-) Great beer. Very full malt fruity aroma. Dark red coloured beer with a slight off-white head. The taste is initially sugary sweet, with raisin, port, molasses. Moderate bitterness evolves towards the finish. Nice, well-balanced barley wine.

Dark red in colour with thin white head. Big malty biscuity aroma with hints of rasins and saltanas. Warm port mouthfeel which lingers for ages.Brilliant!!!

A-- Poured a near bright red color. One finger to half a finger of light brownish orange head. Decent retention and for the most part stayed at a decent collar. A few spots of lacing on the sides of the glass. S-- Strawberry jam, spiced shortcake, toffee, raisin, and tones of chocolate nuts. Very English smelling. Very yummy. T-- Much like the smell but just a bit sweeter. Rich and full taste. Lots of toffee and bread with the above smells. M-- Somewhat thin in spots, more the front and mid palate. Rich and full in the back and finish. Spiced shortcake and bread mixed with dates and oranges in the finish. Much more full bodied and robust in the finish. Slight hop bitterness here and there in the feel. Quite sticky at times. Also quite young. Low carbonation and slick and slightly syrupy. O-- Good, good barley wine. A little thin here and there but this is still young. if given time this will be very good. holds the ABV very well and shows flashes of what it can be. Prefect candidate for a barrel treatment.
