COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed first and foremost to be served on beer engines and in the future as a cask or bottle conditioned ale, this beer is inspired by the boldly hoppy Ales of old that were exported from Britain to the furthest corners of her vast and glorious empire, Voyager I.P.A. is a rich satisfying Ale with an emphatic hop bite.

It is brewed with pale ale malt from Canterbury, and small additions of European specialty malts to yield a malt base on which to build its hop edifice.

We generously hop it with two Kiwi hop varieties for bitterness then finish it with Fuggles (as a nod to I.P.A.’s British origin) and New Zealand bred Riwaka hops for a spicy floral finish.

I’ve had this on the hand pull, where it made a lovely smooth summer afternoon ale, now trying it with carbonation, from the 500ml bottle. Pours rich brown with a full head, from which the predominant aroma are the Riwaka hops. Full and bitter in the mouth, but with a lovely smoothness from a nicely balanced malt. The sprucey notes of the New Zealand hops is probably a bit too overpowering, especially on the after-taste. It’s a typically New Zealand IPA, which is fine, but not quite capturing the British heritage I think they may’ve been going for. That aside, this is a lovely sprightly drop.

Hazy gold with a thick white frothy head, almost fruity aroma (can you say you SMELL bitter?), Bitter, hoppy taste with an almost smokey after taste. Not bad, easy to drink.

Bottle at Taps, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is big citrus floral, resin hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a huge nettle resin spice pepper hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Like an IPA should be :-)

Bottle - 500ml. Pours a cloudy chestnut body with a thin off-white foamy head. Good hoppy aroma with malty, butterscotch, and citrusy hints. Its well balanced hoppy taste carries malty, citrusy, and some woody notes. It is not as sharp/robust as I was expecting. Ends with a decent bitter finish. Average, enjoyable IPA.

Hazy amber beer, small white head. Palate is crisp. Very thin malt, but enough to support the lovely hops. Tangerine, clementine and light orange peel and marmalade. Trace of floralness. Finishes light. Super drinkable.

Sampled at Craft Beer Rising 2014 - Brick Lane, London. Bottle. Pours clear gold with a white cream head. Lots of dried out pine in here, also dry bread and bittering grass. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with herbal hops, grass and pine, mellow sweetness. OK.

First up this was so over carbonated that the beer/head ratio was 1/3, like an ice cream sundae. Then eventually I got to the beer I found it sour and un-invirting. Beer colour is great though. Peculiar pouring character though. Nor my thing at all, but that doesn’t make it a bad beer, you may like the sour notes that this has as a beer, they’re not my thing, and mistake them for hop tang or something. perhaps. Might not be keen to have another.,
