draft @ kitchen next door, boulder. light filtering gives it a shimmering copper colored body. high alpha acid american hop nose (dried grass, orange oil, pine resin, grapefruit) with touches of caramel / vanilla / rye from the grains. medium body, surprisingly tight malt structure and carbonation, firm toastiness with a resinous pine and mildly spiced rye character. clean for the most part. well-done. i’m actually impressed by this new startup, they’re putting out flavorful, well-made beers right off the bat.

(sampled at 8th annual Foamfest at the CO state fair 8/27/11). Clear copper color. Medium off white head. Moderate citrus hop and toast/biscuit malt aroma, with light rye. Flavor of the same, with light rye spiciness. Avg duration. Moderate bitter finish with light dryness. Slick texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.

Pours clear light orange with white lacing. Light aroma of rye & citrus peel. Palate is full-bodied, really hoppy with lots of bitter grapefruit flavor. Rye is nice, not overbearing, but a nice complinet to the hops. Very lingering finish.

On tap at Renegade poured a clear golden amber with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of rye, biscuit, earthiness and light citrus. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, biscuit, earthiness and a hint of pine with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish. 100 IBU’s my ass!

Deep opaque copper. Aroma has slight rye with a ton of citrus hops. Smells also, oddly, of freshly cleaned copper. But the taste is where it’s at. Caramel malt and rye hit first, with some grapefruit/orange citrus rind, resinous and juicy. Balanced, assertive, big delightful flavor. Win!

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2011 [Have had a few more times since the initial batch - the hop profile is much more strong and crisp, keeping the sweetness much more in check - solid and my current go-to local IPA] Tap at the brewery - lightly hazy orange - nose explodes with wet, fresh, citric hop character - medium body, creamy mouthfeel - mildly acidic, with moderate sweetness to balance - moderately bitter, earthy hop character, carrying a lot o citrus flavor, complimented fairly well by the light sourness of the rye - a bit yeasty, and the sweetness lingers a bit, but I enjoyed this one.

On tap @ Renegade. Bright, light orange aspartame with a white head. Lightly piney, nice orange/grapefruit citrusy hoppy nose. Piney, organic, orange citrusy, mild to moderate bitter hoppy flavor over a fairly malty body. Mild hoppy bitter aftertaste.
