3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not a bad beer, but fairly unremarkable in the sea of really great IPAs, and ryes increasingly, that are out there.
Color and unremarkable beery orange, and very little head when poured from the 16oz. can. Nose is pleasant with mild rye spice, some sweet orange, and floral hops, but more muted than I was expecting. Tastes of all that, with some grass and malt that seems nice until it is abruptly stomped out by too much bittering hops, which is basically the death of this beer - I can see a re-tweek of the recipe fixing the problem, but right now the brewís good qualities are overshadowed by the astringency.

Tap at the brewery: Pours orange/amber with a white head. Aroma is rye, caramel malt and a bit of light hops. Taste too is more rye than IPA in my opinion. The hops were really underdone. Not particularly bitter or anything like that. While this is perfectly drinkable, I found it underwhelming.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pint at the brewery. Pours cloudy orange with a tall white head and dense lacing. Aroma is adequately hoppy, pineapple, grapefruit and pine are here. Rye cuts through as well. Itís got a full mouthfeel and juicy citrus with a bit of rye spiciness. Itís well balanced and decently bitter. I could use more pop from the hops, but itís good stuff.

Can. Pours orange with off-white head. Smells slightly musty, citrus. Not too much aroma. Has a very maltiness about it. Not overly hoppy, kind of boring. Spicy, pepper...itís just okay.

Rye IPAs are becoming a can't miss category for me. This is a good example. A tad sticky and malty in the finish, but it goes good with the hops.

Amber in color clear with a thin head. Nice malt addition with a good use of rye. Light spice form the re and a good amount of hops backing. A good IPA.

On tap @ Renegade Publik House. Pours a hazed golden orange color with a white head. Lemony hops, some grass, and a bit of bread. Fairly citric hop aromas. A bit earthy, too. Flavors of lemon peel, orange zest, and grass. Bitter, earthy hops, some grain sweetness, and bread. A hint of caramel as it warms.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Golden copper...small lingering bubbles lacing my chalice. Aroma of wheat, grass, rye. Flavors of a nice IPA with rye briteness, with touches of white pepper, pine, rosemary, sage, alcohol, and a hop and rye bitterness. Thereís also a sweetness like a peppermint candy with a touch of bitterness. Significant carbonation and body. Iíll admit Iíve bought perhaps 10 growlers of this brew, and itís not the closest brewery to me in the Denver area. I used to go a few blocks away to Breckenridge for their 471 double IPA, and I still like it, but thereís something about this brew, the spice-hop-rye balance that has body, strength, and tastiness. Very satisfying in the growler or at the brewery. Iíve not tries the cans yet.
