During GABF weekend. A solid if unspectacular amber. Nothing wrong here but not flavorful and just sits there. The last one finished in my flight of four though better than the banana split.

Draft at source. Amber orange pour. Aroma is mild toasted malt and a green vegetal aroma. Flavor is briefly caramel and toasted malt which fades to a slightly spicy green pepper flavor that lingers. Matches pretty well, low on the heat factor.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 wchesser (672) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 4, 2012
This one exceeded my expectations. Chili is very subtle. Usually chili beers are a beefed up lager with a vegetal chile flavor and maybe some heat. This is more like a medium to full bodied amber with a solid caramel malt core and earthy, ever so-slightly-smokey chili flavor with no heat. It makes the beer, but you might not put your finger on it if you didn’t know what it was.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 agillespie81 (315) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Aroma - roasted malt, faint spiciness;
Appearance - light amber, thin head, lacing is suspect;
Taste - basic malt front with very subtle chile notes, caramel and roasted malt intensify throughout the back, long finish with a slight tang;
Palate - unusually smooth for the style, nice body;
Overall - pretty average at first glance though quite complex after a few sips.

On tap at Renegade.
Poured a rich slightly hazy amber with a small yellow head. Scent of roasted chili peppers, caramel malts. Scent continues into the flavor, which is of roasty fairly mild poblano peppers, a hint of smoke, and lots of malt. By far the best chili beer I have ever tasted, i think due to the smoky poblanos rather than scorching heat which is ok to eat but not too fun to drink IMO.

draft at kegs for cal-wood. rich red body, clear. mild smoke and chile character in the nose hiding behind red apple / caramel malt notes. medium body, good frothiness, tight carbonation with rigid malt throughout. more of a spice than heat, the pablanos are relatively subtle but tend to compliment the caramel malt flavors of toast / vanilla / caramel, with mild to moderate ester fruitiness (apple & pear).
