Backlog rating. Keg at FOB, Rimini. It pours a copper color with a medium beige head. Aroma is sweet malty with notes of nuts, dark chocolate, lactose and honey. Taste is again sweet with notes of honey, melon, nutty, malty breadiness. Finishes lightly bitter with hints of booze. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, decent

Bottle. Pours a deep copper-hued mahogany brown body with a massive creamy off-white head, which lasts seemingly forever. It is the type of head retention that looks kinda nice but actually is annoying, as I have to wait around for 5 minutes before there’s any point trying to smell the aroma. After a while, however, I detect caramel, raisins, mild toffee, biscuits and hints of that sour-tainted, mineral salt-like, "fizzy smell" that almost always accompanies an over-carbonated beer. Taste is caramel, sour grainy notes, smoke, toffee and hints of burnt sugar, band-aid and bitter herbs. Medium body, high carbonation which fades quickly in the mouth. Based on the mouthfeel, the appearance and the tanginess of the taste, I actually suspect a mild infection in this beer. Nevertheless, it’s fairly drinkable and probably not bad when not infected.

On tap at Hoppy Days. Clear deep copper pour with white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, toffee, light smoky notes. Taste is really smoky, toasted malt nice balance of sweet and smoked malt, not necessarily a classic take on the style but still quite enjoyable.

Esperienza assai piacevole
