On tap @ the brewery during 7/5/2014 Seattle beer tour. Pours an orangish brown appearance with a brown head. Definitely get the oats in the nose. Seems a bit sweet and chocolate-y. Flavor is a little twangy. Some plum and red grape notes. Dark chocolate. Pretty fruity. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. One of my last favorites here.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate light brown head on it. Nose is a little bit roasty with some oats and grains in there as well. Taste is roasty with a bit of coffee to it, but I donít get the chocolate that the description suggests. OK, but nothing amazing.

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Dark roasted malt and coffee aromas. Creamy and smooth with roasted malt and chocolate notes. Toffee undercurrents. Very good mouthfeel. Impressive with a nice body.

Draught at the brewery
Dark color, almost black, with compact beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, some cardboard. The mouthfeel is fairly dry, not as strong as expected; the roasted malt dominates, there is just a hint of chocolate, and some molasses. Strange.

Bottle:   Very oatmeal like, slightly dry, some dark chocolate, a touch ashy, and fairly creamy.   Smooth overall, hard to believe its 8.4%.   Very easy to drink, soft, smooth.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Easy, flavorful, smooth.   Pretty tasty!

22oz bottle pours black with a frothy tan head. Oats, grain, shaved chocolate arounds out a subdued aroma. Flavor and texture are the real game changers for this stout. Loads of chocolate, very milky mocha like, coffee after notes, roasted barley, and a heavy weight creamy mouthfeel. The finish is dry and oaty very well balance, the ABV is hidden and each sip leaves me wanting more. I really enjoyed this smooth stout and would go back for another in a heart beat.

Bomber. Pitch black pour with a dense layer of light brown foam. Aroma is a blend of roast malt, chocolate and caramel. Flavor offers up bittersweet chocolate, coffee and roasted malt with a bit of vanilla and citrus in the finish. Rich, smooth and creamy as promised.

Bomber at home. Aroma is bittersweet/dark chocolate, coffee, roast. Pours deep dark brown with frothy tan head, irregular lacing. Smooth and creamy texture. Taste doesnít hit you over the head with anything, but is well-crafted and balanced. Chocolate is big, with just a hint of sweetness that is immediately balanced by roast, light coffee bitterness. Some dark fruit lurking in the corners. Medium-full body, average carbonation. Overall: Nice. This isnít built to run up against the big bad imps out there, but it doesnít have to -- itís refreshing to have a nicely crafted "imperial" beer that doesnít assert itself by shouting, but rather by just being well put together, balanced and reserved.

Draft at Reubenís brewpub in Ballard. Good dark brown, solid. Nutty toasty grain aroma, solid sipper. Warming grains and a nice licorice-coffee bitter.
