Lynnwood, Wa, - Total Wine, 22 oz bomber. Dark, oily brown/ruby red pour, decently thick khaki colored head, a touch of lacing. Aroma has a hint of creosote, some nutty notes, a touch of chocolate. Flavor has a decent roasty presence with some bittersweet chocolate notes, a touch of black coffee, some caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel has a bit of chalkiness that I like in porters, but just a tad thin. Enjoyed this with lunch before heading up to hike near Mt. Baker. Rating #14 of 2016 vacation.

Pours brown with minimal tan head. Smells of a sweet dark roast coffee and chocolate. Taste follows the nose albeit with some charred wood. The body is a bit more watery than Iíd like. Itís an average porter.

Sample at Tap House Grill. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing. Roast malt, coffee and chocolate in the nose. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a nutty and malty aftertaste. Above average overall.
