Deep dark chocolate color. THe aroma is out there but hard to tackle. Mellow malt and roasted aroma. Has some lingering fruity notes as in the taste. Smooth, nice warming sensation on the palate. Nothing overwhelms between the hops and malts. Slight fruit and nutty notes give to a great sweet aftertaste. This is a beer petes should be making now.

Bottle. Coffee/roasted chocolate malt & nice hop finish. Murky, dark brown. Huge, yellowish tan head. Excellent fruity lace that coats the glass. Perfect balance. Nice hop. Wonderful and grossly underrated.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye: Pours a dark mahogany with ruby hues and a frothy, nicely-lacing dark tan head. Aroma has some fresh, toasty earthy, roasty notes with a hint of smoke. Body starts slightly sweet, over-carbonated and pretty roasty with lots of earthy malts. Drier, slightly more bitter finish has a touch of bittersweet chocolate in the distance.

Takes a crazy hue of brown and red. Huge head explodes out of the glass when poured. Really pale malt nose with slight bitter taste. A tad sweet with some biscuit and malt flavors. A bit bubbly with a long mouth feel.

#1029, Bottle purchased from Sam’s in Downers Grove Illinois. Dark dark brown ruby with a nearly explosive frothy brown head that coats the glass with sticky browness. The nose is alcoholy malty and suggary. Hints of dark fruits in and out. The taste is different as it warms. Initially while cool it has more hoppy and alcohol notes. Then as it warms much more malts and brown sugars with this unbelieveable sweetness that is thin and syrupy at the same time. Overall alchohol is present throughout but really not as powerful as I would like in a west coast imperial. Very drinkable and pleasant.

From a bomber purchaed at Sam’s in Chicago. My bottle was definitely overcarbonated. The head was khaki brown with a deep garnet and brown colored body. The aroma has lots of fresh caramel and some freshly milled barley. There is also a note of pecans. The taste is fairly sweet with a nutty note of pecans. There is also some toffee and a little bit of black tea. This is a nice big brown ale.

A very Trappist aroma with some roastiness. Dark borwn. A fruity, sweet flavor with very roasty aftertaste. Orange and pomegranate with a little too much bitterness. Thin with a hint of carbonation. Overall pretty good.
