4-10-08 I just retried this beer today and man has it opened up. The nectar is thick and the flavors really came together on this one. Much more malty now with good flavor concentration. The citrus has taken a backseat but the hops are still defined. Get it if you can.// 88 points //Pours a deep mahogany brown color w/ a full, beachball spattered froth. Good head retention w/ residual lacing. Aroma of sweet perky malts w/ a hop twitch. Light to medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. No residual sweetness yet malty w/ a moderate roast component. A high hop rate digs in fast and lingers killing all the complexities that may have been from the malts. Mineraly w/ big citrus rind, leather, coffee bean, bazooka gum dust, cake bread. Seems like it tries to go rootbeer but the hops kill it before it starts. A unique brew indeed. Asprin juice. A hop heads dream w/o all the citrus juice. For being so light in body, the malts are round giving me the impression of a fuller texture.

Every beer geek likes head but this was ridiculous. I couldn’t drink it for 10 minutes until it subsided. It was worth the wait. Lace... huge pillows sticking to the sides of the glass. Beautiful deep garnet color. Nice sour aroma. Sweet chocolate and coffee flavors. Godiva beer.

Bottle. Coffee/roasted chocolate malt & nice hop finish. Murky, dark brown. Huge, yellowish tan head. Excellent fruity lace that coats the glass. Perfect balance. Nice hop. Wonderful and grossly underrated.

Nov. 2007 - Beautiful pour with fluffy type head and excellent lacing. Very faint aroma of smoke and burnt matches. Nice smokey malty flavor with some dusty chalk. I really liked this. Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing.

A very nice beer, in taste and in purpose. Has a nice pour, dark brown with a thin lacey head. Aroma is sweet. Mouthfeel is crisp with little to no aftertaste. Flavor is strong and has a great palate.

Deep dark chocolate color. THe aroma is out there but hard to tackle. Mellow malt and roasted aroma. Has some lingering fruity notes as in the taste. Smooth, nice warming sensation on the palate. Nothing overwhelms between the hops and malts. Slight fruit and nutty notes give to a great sweet aftertaste. This is a beer petes should be making now.

Poursa deep cloudy amber/brown hue with a frothy tan head . Aromas of spice, lightly roasted oats, and prunes. Flavors od dark fruits, raisnins , prunes, and hint of dry cherries and some spice. While not amazing, a great brew for Bison.

Wow, is this underrated or what? Clear dark mahogany appearance with a humongous, soft head and layers of lacing. Deep malty nose with roasted notes and fresh hops (grapefruit, lilac?), but a slight medicinal character. Nutty, earthy but light stout-ish flavour. The caramel malts hit the palate immediately and stay for the finish. Medium carbonation, very drinkable, nice balance for a brown. Great beer!
