Some Black Russian Bagel in there for sure. Pours a vibrantly clear red-brown, with a thin rim in off-white. Flavor is relatively mild. A gentle sway of brown sugar, toasted pumpernickel, malt sugars, bright alcohols and a faint cast of hops on the backend. Sweet, but some of the spicy sharpness from the rye and the alcohol balances. A nice west-coast hop character draws finish. Respectable. Thanks much Sean! MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

Pours dark transparent garnet with cascading bubbles a small head and great lacing. Flavor is caramel and crystal malts with some rusty resin hops. All that finishes with strong rye. Palate is creamy with a sticky finish. Really not a bad brew. Oakes (8080), gone rambling, Vietnam

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a decent but nothing-special amber with an aroma of pure malt, much like what one smells when on the malt part of a beer tour. Flavor is a soured, red wine hybrid malt beverage that is not unlike other similar beers. Average palate. This beer is par for the course; I want a birdie.. or a bogey, depending on my mood.
