Chestnut hue was nice but head was thin. Heavy on the tongue; mild carbonation. Big and earthy malt flavors, with notes of nuts, grains, toffee and sweet bread. Hops are grassy with faint citrus. Somewhat of a snappy bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice balance.

Pours a dark amber with a small head. Aroma is mildly malty. Flavor is dominated by a smooth hoppiness with some background rye character. Drinkable but not special.

Poured a clear, red amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, rye, citrus, toast, floral hops, and light fruit. Taste of more rye, toasted malts, some caramel, and citrus fruits, with a medium bitterness in the finish.

Pour is a bright red with a very small white head. Aroma is deffinatly roasted caramel malts with a hint of the rye. Flavor is very bready with some spice and rye. Leaves a earthyness on the tounge after the swallow. Not as over the top as Founders red rye but this is a tasty brew for a good cause.

22-oz bottle purchased at Coaltrain Wine & Liquor, Colorado Springs, CO. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, grain, cookie), average hops (perfume, flowers), light yeast (dough) with notes of toasted caraway seeds, spiced apples, and toffee. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
