3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a murky dark brown with minimal white head. Aroma is quite boozy with a good bit of malty caramel sweetness. Taste is quite heavy on the sweet caramel with a good bit of butterscotch. The hops are also present a good bit on the aftertaste, though the sweetness permeates quite a bit. The belgian yeast is a bit present on the slight sourness. An interesting combination, though the belgian characteristics disappear more and more as this warms up.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Serving: 22 oz. bottle from Fireworks.
Aroma: The nose is muted and all I really get is a touch of wheat bread dough.
Appearance: It pours a very deep amber color with a small, frothy, light tan head.
Flavor: The taste has a touch of metal, banana, smoke, earth, clove, and spice. A very odd mix.
Palate: Medium bodied with higher carbonation leading to a relatively dry finish.
Overall: An interesting blending of styles but a bit much to absorb. It seems like they are trying to stick a square peg in a round hole with this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid beer from Terrapin. Aroma and flavor mostly malts, underlying Belgian yeast, some dark fruit, hint of brown sugar or molasses. Finish just a little boozy. Drinkable, not very exceptional.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz Bottle. Poured a dark reddish brown with a small head. Aroma & taste were much the same: fruit, malts, mildly sweet, understated hop profile. Medium to thin body. Overall: good, but very average. I doubt I would buy another. Great label.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz. Bottle: Aroma of alcohol, burnt caramel, malt, slight Belgian yeast, slight fruit, and slight dark ripe fruit. Poured very deep amber/orange in color with a small, off-white head that diminished and then disappeared, except for around the edges. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, light Belgian yeast, light burnt caramel, light fruit, slight Earth, and slight plastic. Medium body. Lightly oily, then slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Malt, toasted caramel, slight Belgian yeast, and slight plastic finish is slightly dry. 8.5%ABV is present in the aroma but not the flavor.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle. Pours dark brown, no head. Whoo, wow....Strong nose. Aromas of belgian yeast-strain breadiness, alcohol, sweet malt, toasted grains, dark fruit, lots of dark fruit, soy sauce, raisin, cough drop. Very mild bitterness, very well balanced. Lots of dark malt, flavors of burnt sugar, dried fruits (raisins, figs, dates), and finishes with a bit of bubblegum and alcohol. A touch of bread underneath all of the complexity of malts and sugars. Very yum. I would like to dry an aged bottle of this in a year of two. Perhaps it would change and maybe develop a drier character.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle… Clear, Longhorn-orange ale with no head. The aroma puts forward caramel, light banana and a rumor of clove. Full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and zippy carbonation. Caramel, praline and mild banana in the flavor. Crisp, lightly sweet finish.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours brown with a touch of brown head that fizzles to nothing quick. Nose is a mix of wood, brown sugar, and a little skunk and isn’t very pleasant. Flavor is somewhat better but is fairly generic brown strong ale: some brown malt, light hops, and a touch of alcohol. Finish is sticky. Unremarkable, especially considering the price and that it’s supposed to honor a deceased memeber of the brewery.
