3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from TheEpeeist. Nose is light chili, dark chocolate, and a little vanilla. Clear dark cherry brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is a lot of chocolaty cocoa, moderate vanilla, and a hint of peppery heat but not much, the chocolate dominates. Good beer but would probably be better with a little more of the peppers.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
THOUGHTS: Nice, but not as good as I was expecting. Very stout like. Didn’t really get too much of the peppers’ spiciness. Just a little heat on the tip of the tongue. Some spicy jerky helped coax some of the heat out of the beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, brown with bright, red highlights and a large, tan head that kept a nice sheet. The aroma had moderate grain, cereal, roasted malt, caramel and milk chocolate; vanilla; slight pepper; and vegetable. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and slightly acidic with and average duration. There was vanilla, chocolate, grains, vegetable, slight piney hops, a little coffee, cereal, and slight spicy peppers. The medium body was creamy and also a little oily with a little soft carbonation and a metallic, slightly chalky and slightly astringent finish.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle and served in my Ommegang Anno tulip: Pours a reddish brown hue with a fading frothy head and not much lace. The aroma has notes of crystal malt, roast, vanilla bean, bakers chocolate, walnuts, and very light chili presence. Smelled more than a tad artificial and fake and even a bit plastic. The taste is very reminiscent of many Shmaltz beers (house yeast I assume), earthy and toasty with some chocolate and vanilla, some booze and very light handed pepper finish. The mouth feel is a bit oily, flat, and uninspired. What a shame... this has promise but they seemed to pull back on the reigns much too much. Not enough Chili character and needs some more bitterness to counter the sweet malts. I paid way too much for this bottle.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a mostly clear deep reddish brown with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. No aroma to speak of except for maybe a few wisps of malt and that’s about it. The flavor is thankfully much different and is filled with rich malt and lots of cocoa. Some vanilla coming through as well. Mild bitterness at the finish. I’m not getting any of chili peppers at all.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Cavie for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark brown color with dark red highlights and a tan head. The aroma is full of roasted and chocolate malt, with not too much else coming through. The flavor is more complex. I get some milk chocolate and roasted malt, as well a a little bit of spice from the chili peppers. All three characteristics work well together and give the beer a unique flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
