Bottle... Clear, dark crimson ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The nutty, chocolaty bouquet offers pistachio, praline, toffee and vanilla. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is a nicely balanced melange of rich, malty caramel, praline and toasted tree nuts. Finishes crisp and brown-sugary with a parting kiss of vanilla. Unusually excellent one-off brew by Terrapin and Schmaltz. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

On tap at the Pourhouse in Westmont, NJ. Deep dark espresso color with faint reddish highlights and a thin medium tan head. Aroma of sweet cocoa syrup. Rich chocolate milk flavor right up front followed by a hint of dark fruit and vanilla. A steadily building cayenne chili burn starts about midway through the fourth sip and sticks around through the semisweet chocolate, slightly bitter finish.

Pours light brown and a white head. Nose is dusty chocolate, slight roasted malts, hint of vanilla and chilli peppers. Flavor is sweet chocolate malt with vanilla and lots a pepper in the back end and finish. Kind of bland and boring with no body.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (3099) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 3, 2011
22oz bottle. Pours a very deep brown colored body with an inch thick, dense, foamy and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is grainy toffees and a solid amount of cocoa nibs with a moderate sweetness accompanied by a nice, light vanilla. A touch of toast, some dark fruits, and maybe just a hint of pepper. Flavor is cocoa nibs with a bit of a cocoa powder up front with some toffees, grains, and vanilla. Gets fairly earthy in the middle with a few dark fruits as the cocoa picks up towards the end. There is a light chile pepper flavor in the finish alongside the cocoa, vanilla, toast, and earth. Pretty dry with just a hint of chile heat coming in during a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid beer. Well balanced with a good amount of cocoa nibs, vanilla, toffee, and earth. I was hoping for a bit more chile pepper, but it is noticeable in the aftertaste. Not bad at all.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 brigg (461) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 18, 2011
(bottle) Dark, opaque brown body with a big brown head that clings to the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and traces of vanilla. A nice mild peppery flavor to the beer--pretty unique. The vanilla also comes through, particularly in the finish, and some cocoa as well. It’s sweet with some mild bitterness in the finish. Medium body. A little unusual but well done.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Slipstream (1775) - USA - NOV 15, 2011
Looks promising, and it is always nice to imbibe for a good cause. Dark and foamy pour, with a sizzling head. Smells like chocolate and yeast - yeasty chocolate? It tastes malty and earthy, with plenty of chocolate and a mildly astringent finish. Pretty dry and well-balanced - goes down easy for a big beer. Nice.

Beer of the month, pours like coke with a decent beige head, aroma of wood, vanilla, nuts and milk chocolate, flavor of coffee, mocha, roasted coffee beans, some smoke, bitter towards the end, silky mouthfeel, medium to full bodied, nice
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dmac (3166) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - NOV 13, 2011
22 oz bomber from Spirits CBR, good call. This was a good beer. Poured a mediumdensity black body underneath a smaller to average sized size frothy off white head. Aroma is dominated by chocolate pudding skins, vanilla extract, brown bread, wet toast, bad citrus, Flavor is loaded with peppers, followed by burnt dark toast, hint of dark toast, more peppers, touch of vanilla and a hint of chocolate. This is one hot beer, better like spice for this one.
