COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Teaming up with Terrapin Brewing Co. for the second time, Shmaltz Brewing returns as a production partner for Reunion ’12. We brew Reunion each year in memory of our dear friend and partner in the venture - Virginia MacLean. Virginia lost her battle to Multiple Myeloma in 2007. It was her wish that we continue to raise funds and awareness on behalf of The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (www.imbcr.org).

This year’s beer is a dark ale brewed with cocoa nibs, vanilla and cinnamon. It was inspired by a fantastic dessert that we used to share with Virginia at our favorite restaurant. This brown ale leads with a sweet and subtle cinnamon aroma. Complex malt overtones quickly give way to a chocolate and vanilla mix of satisfying bliss.

Many thanks to all who have supported this project and have helped us honor Virginia’s memory.

Cheers - Pete & Alan

Dark brown color, the head reduces quickly. The aroma is like perfume, talc, artificial vanilla. Dry mouthfeel, highly carbonated; cheap chocolate flavor and artificial vanilla; some roasted malt, and accentuated bitterness.
Odd. Not my kind.

Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with garnet glints and a 2 finger creamy/fluffy beige head. Primary aroma is chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, a good dose of cinnamon, and a suggestion of something else - which might be vanilla, but there’s so much cinnamon I’d be willing to consider chile. It’s very flavorful. Finishes very spicy in a cinnamon bark way.Quite an ale!

Pours a dark brown color with a finger of khaki head. Lots of cocoa, vanilla, and milk chocolate in the nose. There’s a slight chili pepper aroma and heat along with a touch of raisins. Just a mild earthy note on the nose, too. Maybe a hint of roast and coffee. The flavor is full of sweet molasses, marshmallow, cocoa, and fudge. There’s a touch of raisin fruitiness, a light pepper/spice note, and a touch of vanilla. The mouthfeel is really nice and creamy, too.
