COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Ale Brewed with Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla and Cinnamon Collaboration with Shmaltz Brewing Company This year’s beer is a similar dark ale to the one we brewed for Reunion ’11. It’s  brewed with cocoa nibs from our friends at Olive and Sinclair in Nashville, vanilla, and this year cinnamon. The flavor begins with complex malt overtones and quickly gives way to the chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla. Inspired by rich mugs of Mexican hot chocolate this is going to be especially good with BBQ, Mole and Churro…maybe from your favorite local food truck?

Better than I expected....Pours dark brown with no head or lacing. Rich, roasted, cocoa flavor with noticeable cinnamon. It’s really well balanced and sort of sweet. Finish is dry and lingering.

Excellent aroma. Deep roasted chicolate with rich vanilla. Bitter finish. Lighter maple brown coloring is deceiving as this is a strong, robust beer. 2012 was a very good year for Terrapin’s Renunion ale.

22oz bottle. Deep brown black body, thinnish beige head. Pleasant vanilla-cinnamon-chocolate aroma. Rich, but quite drinkable, with a pronounced vanilla and cocoa nib edge. Smooth on the palate, quite a well executed offering. Big flavors, lots of depth, but not a mess at all, well balanced and concise. Good stuff!

Draught. Pours a clear amber color with a small head on it. I found it to be a little bit spicy, like something you would get in gingerbread. Was fairly smooth, I though.

Bottle. Pours dark brown without much of a head and very light lacing. Overall more subdued, in a good way, than the Schmaltz version. Very mild, stark, but well-blended blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and cocoa. Very sweet and malty that makes it very stout like.

Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is nutty, cocoa with a strong whiff of cinnamon. Flavor is roast chocolate with a small bite of cinnamon. It’s kind of like a light hot chocolate with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. In beer form of course. Pretty enjoyable, though I think it could use a little more body to round out the flavors, finish it just a little thin. Still, nice take on last year’s spicier version.

I liked this one best from Terrapin. Their description is spot on. Cocoa and vanilla with notes of roast and connamon. The finish was dry and sweet and well blended. I enjoyed it.
