Smells very good and strong... a malty beer with good light spicy flavor that dissipates slowly...not great though

22 oz. bottle. Dark brown, with a thin, bubbly, tan head. The aroma is malted cocoa, pine, toffee, and molasses. Very sweet throughout, with very faint bitterness in the finish. Heavy body, sticky, and a little dry in the finish. Overall, this is a smooth, chocolaty, malty beer. Very nice.

Tap at Max’s Taphouse. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, fizzy off-white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is alcohol, brown sugar, dates, cookie and caramel malt with vanilla and coconut notes, earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with spicy alcohol, dark fruity esters, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kramer (3909) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2013
22 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark drown with a ruby tint when held to the light, nice one finger frothy beige head that had pretty nice retention. The nose is quite nice for a spiced beer, they seem to have really dialed in the right amount of vanilla and cinnamon to complement the cocoa aroma. It really does do quite a nice job at suggesting a Mexican hot chocolate. The cinnamon and vanilla almost combine to suggest a peppery note. The flavor is surprisingly well balanced as well, I was really expecting a spice overload, but they let the sweet caramel malt take over the front and reserved the back end for the adjuncts. I’m really surprised at how well balanced the vanilla and cinnamon are, and how they don’t overpower the cocoa nibs either. Medium bodied, nice light fizzy carbonation, it’s on the sweeter side overall, but there’s no sticky or clingy qualities. This was really very good, a total surprise for me, I kinda just grabbed this without looking around the store too much because I was in a hurry. Nice beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice lasting head. The cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon flavors all come through and blend well together. Palate is a bit on the thin side but overall it is an interesting an enjoyable brew.

Bomber from Tosa Wine & Spirits. Pours a very dark brown with orange highlights and an off-brown head that hung around thoughout the glass. Nice lacing. Aroma has brown sugar, caramel, cocoa and some spice. Taste is of sweet brown sugar, choco/caramel, some nuttiness with some vanilla in the end. Finishes sweetly and somewhat quickly. A very easy drinker, with some nice flavors - a scotch ale/brown mix??

On tap. Brown with khaki head. Tastes like a typical brown ale, with the addition of spices and a light hop presence. Aroma is caramel and spice with some chocolate. Soft carbonation, medium body.
