COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year’s beer is a dark ale brewed with cinnamon with vanilla, coffee, and cocoa nibs added. It was inspired by a fantastic dessert we used to share with Virginia at our favorite restaurant. The Brown ale leads with a bold coffee and subtle cinnamon aroma. Complex malt overtones quickly give way to a chocolate, coffee and vanilla mix of satisfying bliss.

Black with a thin white head. Aroma is strong vanilla and cocoa with a hint of cinnamon. Flavor is big roasted cocoa with a good dose of vanilla. Cinnamon isn’t quite as noticeable in the taste. A bit bitter in the finish, this would benefit a bit from a rounder body. I think it would work well as a porter or stout, but it still packs a good bit of flavor. Makes for a good dessert beer, not overly sweet but a lot of complementary flavors. Wife: 3.9

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark brown color with a huge creamy beige head that lingered and left exceptional lacing. The aroma was Doctor Pepper. The flavor was Doctor Pepper, malted milk, chocolate, fig and toffee. Long finish of Doctor Pepper and malted milk. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.

Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Similar to the 2012 in aroma but the coffee presence is very pronounced. Flavor is spiced coffee but the coffee subdues some of the other flavors going on a bit compared to the 2012 version. Still a respectable brew.

Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. This brew is a dark brown color with riddish highlights around the edges and a medium thick khaki head that dissipates gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Coffee, vanilla and malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. The finish is roasty with a cinnamon mocha aftertaste. Above average overall.

Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Terrapin Reunion - A Beer For Hope 2013 finishes with a hint of spicy sweetness.
