3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark cloudy red with off white fast dissipating head. Ringed lacing. Sweet malty aroma with date notes. Medium to full body with more candied fruit. Something slightly off in the finish, but overall a pleasant beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ahh an abbey-brewed Munich Dunkel, I have high hopes. 500ml bottle.
Pours a nice orange/reddish brown with a nice foamy off-white head that stays awhile leaving behind intricate lacing as it recedes.
The smell is much bready and grainy than most. It has hints of rye bread, raisins, and dark sugar.
It is not as sweet as most Munich Dunkels and I like it alot. It is also hoppier on the palate than most which is a nice change of pace. It retains a lot of the breadlike qualities of the smell. All in all there could be more flavor (sweetness) here but the low sweetness makes it incredibly drinkable. This would be a killer summer beer.
Overall maybe an oddity for the style but a good one.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent chestnut brown color with a small off-white head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma is mild with sweet roasted malts, molasses and grains. The flavor is sweet with nuts, light molasses and roasted grains. The palate was thin and watery with soft carbonation. Finishes short. Overall: Something of a disappointing watered down mess.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle served in a dimpled mug. Pours near clear brown with amber-orange hues. Short off-white head and decent lace. Aroma is sweet, malty, and little barnyard. Mildly sweet flavor. Medium body, prickly carbonation, and a malty finish. This goes down smooth.

Bottle 500ml NY
Appearance: clear amber brown with medium snowy white top. Side fine ring on glass. 4-
Aroma: fruity , grainy , molasses and dark malt , hint of chocolate and raspberry.
Flavour/Palate: medium light bodied. Fine grainy mush feel with slight fruity tone , hint of dark chocolate on top. Smooth , quiet delicate in textures. Good basics but I am not sure about that fruity side kick.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
dark honey color (almost amber) with a loose head. Sweet aroma with some molasses hints. Bold initial flavor but faded quickly with a weak molasses finish. Nice bite on the tongue, thin bodied. Somewhat bland, but I had a good time trying to identify the subtle flavors.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a nice, deep garnet, with small, subtle carbonation. Nice thick head that slowly turns into fluffy clouds atop the brew.
Nice, caramel, toasted bread, and licorice fragrance. Maybe a hint of bannana ester.
A very creamy beer. Taste is just like the nose, only with some milk chocolate background as well. Good hop flavor, but low bitterness, just as a dunkel should be. One hell of a beer, and perhaps the best dunkel I’ve ever had!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The tastiest beer I tried amongst the German varieties today. Pours ruby-brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma has toasted bread, light chocolate, earthiness, and a bit of minerality. With a soft, rounded body, this beer bursts with dry chocolate, meaty malt notes, and a very mature oxidized component. Touch of ash on the finish tops off this dunkel. Very solid.
