COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

50cl bottle from Bavaria, malty nose, roast malt, burnt caramel and a balancing bitterness on the palate. A nice dunkel.

Bottle at World of Beer. Pours a clear dark amber color with a dense foamy beige head that fades rather quickly. Aroma has roasted caramel malt notes. Similar flavor with some additional spice notes. Not overly sweet like some dunkels.

A very good dunked that can be purchased easily here in the states. Had three German beers during the 2014 World Cup game between Germany and Portugal and this on was the best by far.

Pouring a light-but-rich, bright brown body with a creamy tan head, this dunkel has a strong roasted malt aroma containing hints of coffee and chocolate. This is carried across into the flavor of this robustly bodied beer. There’s good roasted malt flavors here with a spritzy mouthfeel and a pleasantly bitter finish. Good drink.

A malty bready nutty medium sweet brew with little detectable hop character/bitterness. I can appreciate the this example of the style, but it’s not going to make my shopping list.

500ml bottle shared with Finn. Light brown body. Good creamy head retention. Smell of coffee and cocoa. Moderate liquorice flavour against a chocolate malty backbone. Bittersweet ending. A bit like a brown ale to my taste (at a garden party in Ingolstadt, 20.06.2007).

Reddish brown, some head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is caramel, nut, toast, touch of hops. Medium to light body, lightly sweet. Fairly enjoyable, but a little simple.

Mahogony colored with honey, bready, lightly plumlike, caramel aroma. Huge head due to high carbonation, which is probably the weakest element of the beer. No lacing. Flavor is nice (Caramel sweetness turning to light ly dry) but weak, bubbly & watery. If the beer had higher gravity, it would be overwhelmingly good due to the wonderful aroma notes . As is, quite easy to drink & unchallenging.

Pours clear brown with a decent 0ff-white head and nice lacing. Straw, caramel, metal, and toasted bread in the aroma. Taste is watery and weak. More straw with bread crusts, caramel and roasted malt, just not a lot of it. Some earthy nuttiness when it warmed, but not enough to get excited about.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear pale amber with a small, rough off-white head. Roasted malty nose. Medium body, some roasted malts but in a dry fashion. A little hops in the finish. A dryish Dunkel. 161209
