Pours a dark ruby brown. Malty aroma. I had trouble putting the flavor into words, but it’s good. Sort of a rich roaster malt taste with some nuttiness. Decent palate. Really, it’s an enjoyable beer but it’s not spectacular. I gave my non-beer rating yet beer loving friend a sip and he said, "Damn that tastes German." He’s right.

Bottle Code L4223

Pours a mostly clear, deep mahogany with a creamy, khaki head that reduced quickly to film and wet lace. Oxidized vegetal and light vinegar aroma before roasted nuts and beef broth. Smooth but wet palate finds thin, milky chocolate malts amidst a roasted grain backdrop. Sweetness interjects, but there is a herbal bitterness to finish and linger. Not bad, but I’d hoped for something a little sweeter and fuller.

Bottle at Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio Bar & Grill in Las Vegas. The beer is a clear brownish-amber color with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Clingy partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of ripe fruit and malt. Medium, clean body with a fruity character and notes of caramel malt and a bit of hops. The finish is sweet malt and molasses. Just average overall.

Surprisingly light in colour for a dunkel, like watered down cola. There was a cocoa nose and cola nut with a little dusty nutmeg there. This persisted into the flavour along with mild caramel. Sweetish body and an odd creature this one, but enjoyable for that.

Deep orange/copper with a one-finger tan head and a little lace. Aromas of nuts, chocolate malt and sticky caramel candies. Flavor is mostly malt sweetness, brown sugar and a modest earthy hop bitterness. Medium body, and carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a lingering sweetness in the finish.

Dark ruby cloring with a very large light tan head. Aroma is surprisingly full with roasted peanuts and some potato chips. The slightest hint of apple. The taste is peanut butter with some blackberries. Not as sweet as those deScriptions sound. Light in the mouthfeel. Nothing special, but not offensive.

Bottle (thanks to MoritzF): Dark amber coloured, beige, stable head; sweetish malty nose, distinctive traces of molasses, faint traces of coffee and caramel, mild bitterness; sweetish malty start, becoming dry towards the end; sweetish flavour; short, a bit tart and mild bitter finish with a metallic tinge; lacks a bit a fuller body and could be better rounded................

It’s just a whole lot of nothing special. I like Americanized versions of German beers a lot better than authentic German beers. Maybe that’s because I’m an American? Funny, cause I’m actually a German-American.
