500 mL bottle. Pours a nice umber/mahogany shade with a creamy beige head. Leaves some fine spotty lacing. Aroma is nutty with some fresh baked dark bread and caramel. Toasted grain flavor with sweeter toffee/caramel notes. A little bit of earthy character and a slightly metallic note on the finish. Light and dry, but could use more body. Finish is on the watery side. Smooth carbonation, easy to drink. Decent dunkel but not robust enough.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ernest (5627) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 14, 2005
Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is clear medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread,
molasses, nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet,
lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic,
moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively
carbonation. The malt character isn’t quite sexy enough to stand on its
own, and the hops aren’t strong enough to brighten it, so this one falls
a little flat for me. The finish seems a little grainy, thus after a
few sips I didn’t really feel like drinking any more. Seems to have
potential, but it needs to try a little harder.

Pours a deep amber color. Aroma smells kind of grainy and a little malty. Interesting flavor. Kind of mix of chocolate and fruit. Some roasted malts coming up in the rear. I’ve not tasted a beer quite like this before. Pretty good though.

Pours a clear copper mahogany with a thick, thinly-lacing light tan head. Aroma has nice German lager yeast profile and a semi-sweet, toasted malt nuttiness. Starts mildly sweet and toasty with a light noble hoppy bitterness toward a thin watery finish. A very refreshing, clean light lager, but could have a touch more sweetness and body for a dunkel.
