Wulfstan (481), California, USA Sep 5, 2008 This is a wonderful pale bock. Copper, it has a big offi-white head slowly shrinking to a thin, wispy top. The aroma is brown bread, crust, raisins, grapes, pine bark, earthy leaves, and more bread. The taste is zesty, raisniy, butter-toffee, bread, and a bit spicey. It’s very nice, smooth, highly drinkable, with the alcohol well-hideen but adding a nice zesty warmth and body. MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Sep 4, 2008 (bottle) Clear, deep golden colour with a huge light-beige foamy head. Sweet, slightly toasty malt aroma with notes of chestnuts, caramel and a good dash of herbal hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a smooth and pleasantly carbonated mouthfeel. Toast-malty, nutty taste with caramel; sweet-bitter malty finish with herbal hops. Well-rounded Bock (02.05.07). beerguy101 (3488), Newark, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 This heller bock pours a deep orange gold color from a 50cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with good retention. The aroma is caramel and fruity. A medium bodied heller bock. The malts are caramel and fruity. It is a little on the sweet side, but not overly so. The hops are earthy and slightly spicy. Nicely balanced. Lively carbonation. Nice beer, nothing really outstanding here, but a very enjoyable beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. fonefan (4871), Ulfborg, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. Clear medium yellow orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. (190408) rkuhnel (1139), Eureka, California, USA Apr 10, 2008 From a 500 ml bottle this poured nice clear amber with a big foamy off-white head and copious lacing. Nose of caramel malts and grassy hops. Fairly rich mouthfeel. Flavor is caramel, with some fruit now showing. Somewhat dry and lightly bitter finish. A very good German beer that is easy to drink.
