Lustrous gold with good carbonation and a good covering of head that left its mark down the side of the glass. A faintly musty aroma with buttery caramel. The flavours are somewhat thicker with mature caramel in a chewy body. Lovely stuff.

The best beer to drink while listening to David Gilmour’s 1978 eponymous album; a standard and very sweet marzen from a medium sized brewery in the country of a town.

500ml bottle from some beer store in Gräfelfing. Pours a clear, golden copper colored body with a finger-width, frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is lightly sweetened and grainy with a slight toastiness, a light grass, and a few fruit notes. Flavor is similar. A bit bready and grainy up front with a lightly sweetened maltiness. Some toast, a few fruits, and a light grassiness. Finishes pretty clean, lightly sweetened and toasty, and lightly bitter before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Medium-light, smooth body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent märzen. Smooth and easy drinking with a nice balance. Not bad.

Bottle (kindly delivered by Quack-Duck!) Almost clear, deep golden to copper coloured, small - but lacy - off-white layer; solid nutty-caramelly nose with a mild but distinctive citrussy-hoppy tinge; moderate and balanced sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and soft; first caramelly, later lemony hoppy finish. Wow, what a delicious Märzen.......

bottle, from the brewery. Clear, deep amber golden colour, small white head. Intensive aroma of caramel. Full-bodied, grainy malty flavours with lots of caramel, good herbal hops, especially in the lingering finish. Well balanced, well crafted, a very nice beer.
