COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Dark brown, small to average and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, light roasted malt and faint barn-yard. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, light caramel and roasted malt, light coffee and licorice. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light caramel and roasted malt, light coffee and faint salty licorice with faint hoppyness, light alcohol. Sweetish IS with light roastiness - could use more bitterness. Really nothing special.

Bottle, thnx to Secret Sinterklaas 2012. Had this for a long time!! Pours a jet black beer with a nice layer of brownish, creamy head on top. Aroma has loads of coffee, licorice, some yeasty presences as well. Flavor is quite sweet with a big base of licorice in there, accompanied by some bitter spicy touches. The alcohol is present, but suits the beer well. Finish is bittersweet and quite dry, low level of carbonation. Decent Imperial Stout.

Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate, liquorice, hint of dark fruits. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitter finish. Decent Stout, but not very memorable.

Impy with yellowish head and practically black colour. Strong aroma of coffee powder, bitter chocolate, brambleberries, black pepper, liquorice, dates. Red berries and candied fruits in the onset, typical granular mouthfeel, deep and pretty complex dark maltiness, chocolatey and increasingly roasted bitter towards the end. Stereotypical for the style, but if this is a style you like, very enjoyable. Wasn’t this brewed at the ’Proef’brouwerij initially?

Pitch black, frothy beige head an lots of yeast chunks floating around. Smell is liquorice coffee with a wholesome bready background. Some leather and woo, subtle chocolate and resin. Organic with a subtle fruity sweetness. Round full taste, watery with subtle sweetness and sourness. Perfectly balanced. Slightly smokey, with a nice chocolaty dry finish. Long creamy aftertaste. A subtle stout focused on a refined balance.
