COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Geschmack angenehm röstmalzig, schokoladig, Kaffeebohnen, leicht alkoholisch.

330ml bottle (HBF2014, Saturday)
Lovely sweet estery aroma, good roast base. Plenty of esters in the retronasals. Mellow roast. Light palate, pleasant carbonation. No sign of 9.5%, I thought it was under 6% - respect for that! Perfectly placed level of roast and influence of burntness, no harshness at all.

33cl bottle @Helsinki Beer Festival 2014. BB 12/2018. Poured near black with a thin brown head. Aroma has licorice notes and roasted malt. Flavor is similar with licorice on top. Quite malty brew. Roasty, and gets abit salty at the end. Hint of coffee as well in the finish. Basic, simple stuff. Surprisingly thin for this ABV.

Bottle, 330 ml. Appearance: black with a brown head, leaves quite some lacing. Aroma: Some roasted malts and grapes, not so strong for an Imperial Stout. Taste: tons of roasted malts, some light vanilla, chocolate and a little bit of grapes in the background. Aftertaste is more offee and mild bitterness. Thick body and sticky on the palate. medium carbonation.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2014 Neutral smell. Appearance is nice and dark. Taste is bitter and dark chocolate. Drank again 26-3-14 with Masum at Kandinsky. Was a good beer. Still agree with my last rating regarding description, though I increased the final mark. It’s just a good beer. Begins with salmaniak but good dark beer typical taste afterwards. Just fine.

bottle 33 cl. Pours opaque black with a big khaki head and an aroma of wet earth, dark malts, chocolate, coffee and toffee. The taste is medium sweet with notes of candy sugar, yeast, some bitterness, dark fruits, heavy malts, coffee, black chocolate and it’s slightly alcoholic. The body is pretty thin for an imperial stout. Nice beer, but I know some better ones in this style.

Bottle, 330 ml. At home, poured into a snifter glass. ABV 9.5% Almost totally black, absorbing every light that tries to pass though. Tall and thick beige head, with good retention, leaving heavy lacing on the glass. Roasted malts on the aroma, black grapes, wine-like. Nice taste, tons of roasted malts, some light vanilla, the alcohol very well hidden. Lots of coffee and mild bitterness on the aftertaste. Thick body and sticky on the palate. Overall a quite good imperial stout, high quality for a low price. Recommended also as an everyday impy.
