Mortlach (1113) - Rome, - FEB 18, 2013
18/02/2013 330ml bottle. Nera, densa, impenetrabile, buona schiuma cappuccino, cremosa e persistente.

33cl bottle at Tre små rum. Didn’t really expect much from a Italian stout, but boy was i wrong. Pours black with a brown head. Toffee/chocolate/vanilla aroma. I’ll have to keep a lookout for more beer from Revelation Cat.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with airy dark tan head. Dark aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chcocolate and liquorice. Sweetish flavour of chocolate, coffee with milk, yeast and caramel malt, with roasty notes and touches of liquorice. Lingering, sweetish and roasty aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Good. My rating #3700.

The aroma of oak, licorice, raisins and chocolate. The taste is incredibly much chocolate. Not dark chocolate but more cocoa. Occasionally bitterness which fills the upper and front part of the mouth for a long time. Really good beer can be enjoyed in a while. Clearly worth to drink. Bottle at 3 Små Rum, Göteborg. Opaque black beer with a quite ok beige/brownish head. Roasted fig and caramel aroma, raisins, plums, caramel, toffee notes, vanilla, milk chocolate, licorice, cocoa powder, vinous, coffee notes, tar, some licorice. Figs and chocolate flavor, caramel, hazelnuts, raisins, cocoa powder, licorice, milk chocolate, plums, warming alcohol, some toffee. Very sweet, but it gets away with it. Delicious.

Pours a viscous-looking black body with a tiny medium brown head consisting of a few short-lived bubbles that doesn’t leave much lacing. Malty, sweet and strong aroma of dark caramel, chocolate and vanilla, with brown sugar, coffee, wood and bark in the back, and additional hints of alcohol and bourbon. Strong roasted flavour of chocolate and coffee, with lots of sweet boozy vanilla and woody notes. Are you sure this beer hasn’t been matured in bourbon barrels? It’s a very sweet brew with a moderate bitterness in the long finish. Full-bodied and with a pleasant oily texture, but the carbonation is a bit too close to flat for my liking. A lovely imperial stout, even though the Revelation Cat logo is a bit scary: http://imgur.com/Lb3IzYf .

Plovmand (6810) - Helsinge, DENMARK - JAN 3, 2015
Bottle. It pours opaque black with a creamy beige head. Sweet heavy malty aroma with some sugary and ripe fruity notes. Vanilla is noticeable in the background. No ashy notes and the roasted notes are quite hidden. Sweet vanilla flavor with some sweet roasted notes. Light chocolate and dried fruits. Quite sweet for an imperial stout but it kind of hides the alcohol. Well made, Alex.

Rating # 500! 330 ml, flaske, 13,0 % ABV, gave fra laboko - tak! 8. december 2014.
