A Bold American Barleywine. As bitter and big as it can get. Hoppy, sticky, malty, red and strong, this beast will fill your blood with alpha acids. Definitely for the brave.

Tap @ 4:20, Rome.
Pours dark hazy amber color with a small head. Lots of sweet resinous hops on the nose, caramel and some alcohol, sweet tropical fruits too. Reminds me of Avery at first. Alcohol it’s not that strong on the flavor, warming only, sweet caramel and resinous malts, pine and tropical fruits. Good balance here. Tasty.

Draught @ 4:20. Aroma is sweet, fruity and hoppy with caramel and toffee candy. Flavour has resiny malt, tropical fruits, alcohol and toffee. Heavy, sweet and resiny - a barley wine as it should be. There?s a slight gluey tone that disturbs me a bit though. Also alcohol starts to come through after some sips. More American BW than the most of the America BWs itself. Massive, drinkability is not that great due to the overwhelming everything.

330 ml, flaske, 11,0 % ABV, BB 12/2014, købt i Kvickly Allerød, 22. februar 2015. Kompliceret.

330 ml bottle. Clear deep golden to amber body with a medium sized, lacing off-white head. Strong aroma of sweet malt, dry fruit, grapefruit and some alcohol, actually less boozy than expected for the high ABV. Flavor is very sweet and malty, toast, dry fruit, medium bitterness and rather boozy. Full body and a long lasting, sweet alcoholic aftertaste. Pretty heavy this one, some complexity but too sticky sweet and boozy to really make a good score in my book. The first little sip was a lot more impressive, but drinking the whole bottle was just a bit too much.

The aroma is of dark fruits. The taste is strong. Dark fruits, a little alcohol and sweetness. But still good. Good bitterness that fills the mouth forever. When it starts to get a little warmer, you feel more alcohol. But who drinks a beer at 11% fast? Good rating anyway. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
