A very fresh 330 ml bottle @ Rosses i Torrades, Barcelona. Pours a pitch black colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of very strong and pungent floral hops, licorice and roasted malts. Flavour is massively bitter with some citrusy notes and herbs, very subtle caramel notes, earthiness, dark chocolate and coffee. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a very long, tangy, bitter finish. Alcohol is rather well hidden. Excellent balance and the hops just keep on lingering after several minutes. A big beer which even beats Stone’s Sublimely. Straight to my top-10 you go.

Appearance: Pitch black color with a finger thick beige head. Nice lacing.
Aroma: Dark malt, rich chocolate, hoppy and fruity.
Palate: Full body. Tad sweet and a rich bitterness. Soft to average carbonation. Dry texture.
Taste: Chocolate, coffee, fruity, hoppy and some roasted malt on a fine dark malty background. Well hidden alcohol.
Overall impression: Powerful, lovely and tasty bipa.
Personal stats: Bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo, Norway

Bottle. Pours translucent black with a small creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, raisins, dates and liquorice, as well as some hoppy orange peel. Creamy body with average carbonation. Flavour is bitter, with burned malts and some notes of caramel, sweet liquorice and berries, before a great hoppy bitterness of grapefruit and orange peel. Also finishes off with a long bitter and slightly burned. Very black in appearance, but very IPA in flavour.

Black pour producing a small, short lived film of offwhite foam. Strange medicinal bitter aroma, with a roasty background. Taste is bitter chocolate and malty. Far from the best BIPA I’ve had, but it’s ok. Medium body and carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 03.08.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is rubber, dark fruits, hops, pine needles, licorice, dark malts, grass, dark sugar, hints of warming alcohol. Taste is grassy, dark malts, rubber, pine needles, bark, ashes, grass, alcohol, hops. Longlasting bitterness. Weird, and pretty boring and one dimentional taste.

Bottle shared at Olympen Friluft, july 2nd 2013. Black body, low beige head. Aroma of yeast, british earthy hops, pine. Taste is malty, chocolate, champignon, grass, licorice. Missing lots of the expected fruity hops. Good roasty bitterness, short malty aftertaste. A bit dissappointing in some ways, this beer just didn’t tick the right boxes for me.
