Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, toasted, light heavy hoppy, grapefruit, orange, notes of grape, wine and wood. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, and dry dry tart finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090515]

CBF09. 37.5 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Mild fruity and light peachy aroma. In addition the aroma has a light smooth wooden note. Yeasty and hoppy base flavoured. Sweet and fruity flavoured finish. Bitter and fruity lasting impression. I don’t really pick up the wood effect in the flavour for this one, yet I find it more balanced than the reference which must be due to the wood.

Bottled. A golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grass, medium notes of malt, and light notes of wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and alcohol, as well as lighter notes of vanilla and over ripe fruits. The alcohol leaves a slight burn on the side of the tongue.

Bottled (thanks Timo A!). Hazy orangeish amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, mild wood as well as mild alcoholic notes. Flavour is fruits, alcohol, some wood and mild spicyness.

omhper (19187) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2009
Bottled Hazy orange, small head. Slightly more lively then the reference version. There is a mere whiff of vanilla, then it’s more or less exactly the same as the reference beer. Barrel aging of double IPAs is always a silly idea.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy citrus aroma with some hints of vanilla. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor with hints of wood and some hints of vanilla. Has a dry malty hoppy bitter finish with hints of citrus and some hints of wood in the aftertaste.

Like the other wooden versions, it has less fruity character, more sweat, some lemon aroma too; alcohol. The flavor is very similar, difficult to find wood differences, maybe also due to the additional ageing.

2009-05-15, bottle at Københavnske Øldage 2009, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Hazy golden color; medium head. Differently from the French Oak, in this case the vanilla is clear, it mixes well with the passion fruit, creating even a flowery touch. Good body, dry malt flavor, strong bitterness, long final. Good.

Copenhagen beer festival. Very similar to the French oak version (which was in turn similar to the reference). Where the French was rounded off this is even softer and lacks the spciy finish.
