COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To commemorate our 3rd year anniversary we brewed this hearty wheat barley wine with piloncillo sugar and aged it for 4 months in Appleton rum casks. The result is something special; layers of caramel, molasses, toasted malt, oak and warmth. Cheers!

Slightly dark amber pour, little to no head. Big spicy rum nose. Beautiful sweet malt profile, nice spice and heat from the rum on the finish. Really nice Barleywine, certainly on the sweet and boozy side.

Bottle from Ryan, nice dark clear amber like apple juice. Aroma is some cinnamon, light wood character, sweet caramel as well. Taste is light fruit, almost apple like, caramel sweetness, very complex, outstanding different profile for a barley wine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

April 20, 2013 - bottle from my buddy Brett. Brownish orange pour with some head that faded quickly. Aroma was caramel, light fruit, sugar and wood. Taste was consistent with aroma, but had some nice heat that blended well with the sweetness.

From notes. Draft. Damn, this is good. Brown sugar and wood with dark fruits and some vanilla. I would love a bottle to bring with.

Cloudy brown. Nutty vanilla nose. Thick creamy head. Toasted coconut, chocolate and vanilla flavor. Smooth lasting finish.

Draft at Standard Market. 10 oz. glass for $6. A deep, cloudy, murky brown. Lacy, thin strings of foam. Smell is rather light; no heady alcohol. A bit of fruity ester. BUT the taste is indeed big. Thick mouthfeel like a raisin syrup with a slight bit of cherry. Rum is very much in evidence, but hovers in the background. Despite the warming alcohol and thick mouthfeel, itís not overbearing. Hops only serve to offset the sweetness, unlike a Bigfoot. A lot like a sherry, with a little rum to the rear. The 10 ounces is quite more than enough, thank you. So hard to do more than just sip this wonder.

Sample at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: The beer pours a hazy mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Boozy aroma with malt and vanilla notes. Full, syrupy body with flavors of earthy malt, rum and wood. The finish is sweet with a rum and oak aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Like so many revolution beers, I feel like I really should like it. . . and I donít like it nearly that much. This one is all barleywine, from the first overpowering sniff, and like any good barleywine I do expect it to slap me around a bit. But this one does the slapping in a kind of unrefined, syrupy manner. It really is just too sweet and syrupy-- both in flavor and texture. I suppose the rum is whatís supposed to balance out all this fruity, syrupy sweetness. . . but itís not working for me. I like a high alcohol brew and generally donít blink till they get north of 10% . . but this one just has too much alcohol taste for me. So, itís ok, but whereas every year I will continue to look forward to Bigfoot. . . this one I could miss.

650bl bottle purchased at he recommendation of my boss. Pour is a brownish red, not the most inviting beer in appearance. Smell is rum, pears, oak, caramel, and perfumey booze. Flavor is more of the same. A super-malty barleywine with a boozy, oaky rum tone. I like it as a sweet beer. Burning alcoholic palate which I like.
