COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To commemorate our 3rd year anniversary we brewed this hearty wheat barley wine with piloncillo sugar and aged it for 4 months in Appleton rum casks. The result is something special; layers of caramel, molasses, toasted malt, oak and warmth. Cheers!

2012 bottle.
Appearance: The body is not perfectly clear, but I wouldnít expect so from a wheat heavy beer aged in oak barrels. The color is a deep chestnut with garnet through. Not much head to note, even on the pour.
Aroma: At first the aroma is sweet of brown sugar, toffee and caramel, but dark fruits peek through with oak and some rum aromas, but they are very mellow. This smells nice, complex and intriguing.
Taste: This is intriguing and complex. On the intro this is sweet with caramel and brown sugar. During the mid-taste dark fruits make an appearance, but they are outshines by the sweetness of the caramel and toffee flavors, this is sweet and enjoyable. The finish hits hard with oak and alcohol that slightly burns, but quickly smooths out to a mellow rum flavor with a lingering touch of vanilla and a caramel sweetness. This is hard to keep up with because the flavor is constantly changing with flavors weaving in and out over the tongue.
Palate: Thick and slightly syrupy, soft carbonation that becomes slightly sharp.
Overall: This is complex and very enjoyable. The finish is a bit hot, but the flavors weave in and out constantly keeping my tongue entertained. This is an excellent beer, well done.

On tap at the brewpub. The rum aging is very evident here. Malty, slightly sweet, with great spice and a warming burn. Definitely a sipper. Happy anniversary Revbrew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet malty. Honey. A lot of sweet flavors, but not too sugary. Good stuff, though.

Tap at the source. Pours orange solid white head. Aroma is caramel and burnt sugar. Taste follows sweet barrel too.

Bomber pours an almost clear dark reddish brown with small vanishing off-white head but good lacing. Nose is full of toffee, alcohol and sugar. Aroma is an interesting mix with sweet malts, banana, pear, bread, vanilla, and biscuits. Flavor is definitely sweet with some alcohol burn in the finish. Mouthfeel is sticky. Body is full with slight carbonation. An interesting experiment and still an enjoyable big beer.

5 oz pour on tap at the Milwaukee Brew Pub (Chicago, IL). Pours a deep amber brown hue, darker with orange copper glow on the edges, some nice haziness, richer deep glow on the edges. A frothy beige head atop dies to a firm film, laces well. Aromas are sticky malts, gentle estery fruit. Banana and apple, gentle pear meet caramel, toffee, and biscuits. Sticky sweet meets barrel, vanilla, gentle spice, gentle yet growing spirit. Sweeter rum influence. Flaked wheat, caramel, barrel tannins and sweetness. Initial is medium bodied, a bit more girthy with sticky malts, caramel and apple, estery fruit, toffee, and some richer banana. Fruity, sweet, middle shows some barrel. Toffee, carmelization, and sticky malt. Vanilla, oak, and firm spirit influence come into play as we delve in further. Rum flavors, sweeter, a touch spicy. Itís a bit hot, harsh, and sweet.. But the barrel itself seems to play well with the base itself. A bit thinner into the back where the heat picks up, tannic and hot spirit influence. The beer goes from sweet and sticky to a bit of a mess on the backend. Perhaps some age will improve this. I can see others liking it quite a bit. For me, itís certainly big, the rum influence makes itís presence felt into back and finish. A bit sticky and oxidized at times. Some oranges, paper, and caramel malts. Fruity esters stick around. An oddity. Itís not bad, but itís weird. A solid barrel aged experiment in the least.

Snifter on tap. Thin off-white head. Mostly clear orange / red / amber color. Decent lace. Bigger body. Dry texture. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Awesome aroma... Really nice amount of rum barrel here, not too strong, works well with the wheat barley wine. Great caramel malts, spice, toasty malts, some (tropical) fruity hops. Sweet, light bitter taste. Little warmth in the finish, but no bite here. Really good stuff now. I plan on getting more. Should age awesomely.
