3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750 ml bottle crushed with the dude. Pours a dirty brown color with almost no head. Big sweet aroma of tons of booze, rum, sweet malt notes, vanilla and barrel notes. Flavor is sweet with big booze notes. Fruity sweetness, barrel notes. Slick, oily mouthfeel. Finishes boozy. Nice.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Like so many revolution beers, I feel like I really should like it. . . and I donít like it nearly that much.
This one is all barleywine, from the first overpowering sniff, and like any good barleywine I do expect it to slap me around a bit.
But this one does the slapping in a kind of unrefined, syrupy manner. It really is just too sweet and syrupy-- both in flavor and texture.
I suppose the rum is whatís supposed to balance out all this fruity, syrupy sweetness. . . but itís not working for me. I like a high alcohol brew and generally donít blink till they get north of 10% . . but this one just has too much alcohol taste for me.
So, itís ok, but whereas every year I will continue to look forward to Bigfoot. . . this one I could miss.
