COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To commemorate our 3rd year anniversary we brewed this hearty wheat barley wine with piloncillo sugar and aged it for 4 months in Appleton rum casks. The result is something special; layers of caramel, molasses, toasted malt, oak and warmth. Cheers!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep amber colored body with a bit of an orange hue. Finger-width, creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is rich caramels with some wood, hints of molasses, and a nice rum note. Touches of toast and a light fruitiness. Flavor is similar. Rich caramels with a bit more of a molasses sweetness, wood, some vanilla, and a nice rum note. The rum gives off a slight fruitiness and really adds a nice complexity to the rich caramels. Finishes dry and somewhat woody with a deeper caramel, some toast, a light woody spice, and a pleasant rum note. Just barely a hint of alcohol warmth before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Fuller, somewhat sticky body with a creamy, light carbonation. Overall, this is pretty impressive. The rum barrel adds a nice complexity to the big caramel malts without overpowering the base. Really well done anniversary beer.

Bomber. Pours a caramelly brown with a thin off white head, so-so retention. Nose is big on sweets: malt, caramel, rum, brown sugar. Mouth is big and creamy, boozy warmth intermingling with toffee, vanilla, jaggery (Indian unrefined sugar), dates, rum... Sweet and dessert-like, would be perfect for the holidays. Outstanding brew.

Bottle - thanks much to jlanning215! Pours clear chestnut with a small tan head that slowly dissipates leaving decent lacing. Aroma is toffee, rum, molasses. Flavor is quite strong rum overlying rich malty toffee and molasses. Woody notes prominent, along with some astringence. Medium sweet, light bitter. Strong warming finish - this is really an ABV forward beer. Nice, but would actually prefer to have the barrel pulled back just a bit.

Bottle purchased at Aficionado’s and sampled at Kurt’s Blarneywine tasting on 3/16/13. Clear reddish copper pour with a medium tan head. Aroma consists of malt, rum, roast and light hop. Malty and caramelly flavor with rum and light chocolate before a sweet finish.

Bottle shared by Brandon, thanks! Pour is dirty brown with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor is really sweet and malty. The rum really comes through and is a little abrasive. Smooths out as it warms. Sweet and hot. Nice beer.

Thanks to the kind soul who shared this at a recent Tampa Weekly Tasting. Pours a hazy copper with a white head. Nose is wood, rum, booze, dates, plums, sugar, and hints of molasses. Flavor is similar: wood, rum, dates, plums, booze, sugar and lots of nice barleywine flavors.

Bottled. Orange garnet with a small light tan/white head. Mildly rummy aroma with heavy caramel malts, moderate alcohol, raisins, plums, brown sugar and light oak. Sticky caramel malt flavor with a load of sugared dates, molasses, spiced rum, light nutmeg and graham cracker. Finish has a little bit of cherry grenadine and oak barrel sweetness. Really good stuff.

Tap in a snifter at Village Tap during CCBW. Hard to we in the dark beer garden, but it appears to be a dark apricot color with a off white head that reduced to a film with a ring around the glass. Given a swirl, the head leaves speckles of lace on the glass. Copper penny and apple brandy aroma. Taste is sugar cane, rum, and beet sugar. Tropical fou fou barley wine? No, but it’s tasty. Sweet for sure, but not too much. I’m a little surprised at how take this is for the high ABV and a beer that is suposedly designed to age. Very drinkable now. Curious how it will age. I have a bottle and am now perplexed if I should sit on it. Look for this at an upcoming bottle share, I think...

Bomber. Deep caramel amber with a dense beige head. Caramel, toffee, dark dried fruits and vanilla wood aromas. Big barrel flavors and sweet dried fruits. This stuff is amazing.

Slightly dark amber pour, little to no head. Big spicy rum nose. Beautiful sweet malt profile, nice spice and heat from the rum on the finish. Really nice Barleywine, certainly on the sweet and boozy side.
