COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A citrusy and refreshing Belgian-style pale ale hopped with Cascade, Citra, and whole Crystal hops for massive aromas and flavors! Fermented with our Belgian Wit yeast for an extra dose of complexity, this one is very drinkable and extremely aromatic.

Per Wil Turner, this is a second runnings beer from Institutionalized Barleywine’s runoff.

From tap. Clean gold orange in glass. Big nose of complex hops, some citrus zest and wet cellar. Big flavors in this offering, mostly sweet. Bubblegum and orange candies. Short bread. Fine, hoppy, bitterness lurking underneath. Very well put together. I am a sucker this kind of sweet and bitter combo.

Pours clear amber with big frothy head. Aroma is dominated by hops-- I get citrus and pine. A hint of bready yeast is detectable, but definitely 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) place to the hoppy notes. On the palate the yeast and malt become more present and the hops to yeast profile balances out. Bitterness is there on the finish but very, very mild, which I enjoy. Malt also comes through on the finish. Mouthfeel is lively and bubbly. I like it.

Can to glass. Pours a clear golden color with a thin off white head. Aroma is fleshy fruit, bubble gum, banana, Belgian yeast. Flavor is more typical of a Belgian ale, yeasty, mild banana bubblegum sweetness. Lighter in body. Easily drinkable. Tasty.

12oz can, typical Revolution beer, well balanced and much complexity in this brew as well. Taste of light caramel, malt, yeast flavor balanced out with hops flavor. Probably one of the better American made brews of this style.

Tulip draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a strikingly deep golden pour, a touch of orange, faint haze grows a touch, with a frothy offwhite head that dies to a small level, laces small overall. Nice color. Aromas are a rich melange of hops and yeastiness. Some gentle spice, dry herbal qualities, and fruity esters immediately mix with dry citrusy hops, some florals, growing orange and gentle tropical fruit, lemons, melon. A nice level, but not bursting. Touches of spicy yeast, bread dough, pale malts, and gentle apple and pear esters move in. More Citra enters the fold as it warms a bit more, quite nice. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, offering a healthy fruity essence, citrusy hops and tropical flavors up front. A moderate dryness sticks, cuts through the sweetness from the esters created through the Belgian yeast. Gentle apple, melon, tropical fruit. Lemons, florals, grass, more mango, growing into a fruit vibrant front end. Middle gets fruity, but not sweet as the C hops stay the focal here. Touches of florals and dryness kick in, as the backend offers a moderate dryness, some lingering bready and pale malts, touches of Belgian yeast that offer a gentle herbal quality, some mellow fruity esters, but largely the hops remain the focus. I was a bit skeptical of the brew, thinking it would be far too sweet. However, the hops remain the focus here. The sweetness stays at bay and the yeast doesn’t take over but provides a decent synergy. Quite a lovely beer, coming from someone who spurns a Belgian influence as they become heavy handed quite quickly. Well done.

Tap at the pub. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, citrus. Fairly sweet flavor - for a second runnings beer it is quite substantial. Well done.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a glowing orange pour with a small white head. Aroma of big pine and citrus hops intertwined with spicy belgian yeast. Flavor is sippy, lots of nice belgian yeast and bitter hop notes. Some citrus, song banana, and mild spice tones. It’s medium bodied, finishes long and bitter.

22 oz bottle pours a clear reddish orange with small white head and some lacing. Smells like an IPA with citrus, piney, and floral hops up front. Aroma is the same with the hops dominating. There are hints of melon, honeysuckle, orange and lemon without very much in the way of malts or yeast. Body is medium. Tastes on the sweet side at first with a nice bitter finish. Very enjoyable, but it didn’t make me say Wow. Worth trying again.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Very clear and dark golden. Minimal head. Some nice hops hit my nose first. Floral and citrus with honey. Those are tasted with with dry bitterness. Some yeast but just a bit. This is tasty.
