On tap at Revolution. Pours clear orange with white head. Aromas of citrus hops, caramel malts, and some tropical fruit. Flavors of citrus, some mango, caramel malt, and on the light side of hop bitterness. Drinkable, but lacking hop punch.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Regular and cask versions sampled side by side at Revolution on in Revolution pint glasses. Originally reviewed 8/24/2011.
Served on cask at Revolution in a pint glass.
This has a starkly different appearance from the regular version (served side by side). This has a clear copper color with a perfect natural creamy foam head 2 inches high.
Caramel, soft brown sugar, and a light orange and citrus hoppiness in the nose. This aroma is nice, pleasant, and smooth.
The flavor is smooth, with soft brown sugar, orange rind, some caramel and honey malt notes, and some fruity tangerine hoppiness. The finish is fairly even and mild without much lingering bitterness.
A soft, light, natural carbonation is apparent and expected. The cask format provides for an enjoyable smoothness that I like.
On cask as well, this does not exhibit the typical blast of hops that I look for in an IPA, but the refreshing natural carbonation greatly improves this beer.
Served on tap in a Revolution pint glass at Revolution.
This has a hazy golden color with a quickly dissolving white head. A fair amount of lace spots the glass.
The aroma is full of orange rind and tangerine hops, with some floral and pine aroma to round out the hoppy smell. A bit of malt provides a little bit of support.
The flavor starts with a biscuit and honey flavor, then gradually becomes more bitter. The orange rind, grapefruit, pine, and grassy hops are fairly nuanced, and the flavor actually feels a little flat and lingering towards the end.
A fairly even mouthfeel for an IPA. Creamy carbonation, lightly resiny, light to medium body.
This was subtle and pleasant, but I like my IPAís to have more bite to it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Crisp fruity smell and taste. Poured from tap at the Grafton - golden orange clear with sticky head that stays on the glass. Maybe my expectations were low and that is why I enjoyed this so much. Easy drinking and well balanced IPA

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear pale gold with barely any head, poor retention, big bubbles. Why is there no head on this? Anyway, Aroma of nice cheesy green hops, citrus groves, minor honey and caramel. Taste is cheesy dry hops, honey, resin, pine sap, overall very citrusy and dry hoppy. Body is medium, silky smooth, very low carbonation, bitter dry hop finish. Overall, a great IPA with a powerful hop character.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Revolution. Transparent orange, white ring for lacing with oily island top. Nose is dirty melon and mango, caramel shooting in and out, flavor piny, resinous with moderate burnt notes. Well-attenuated, more mango in finish, dusty marshmallow and bubblegum follow with an oily end that dies quickly.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A golden IPA with a thin white head. In aroma, a nice smooth caramel malt with light floral hops, a bit of butterscotch. In mouth, a smooth butterscotch malt over floral hops, light grapefruit, not bad. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 11 2011.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tasted 10/20/11. Draft pint from the Northdown Cafe in Chicago. Pours filtered with a dark golden hue. Off-white head. Aromas of strawberry candies hops and citrus fruit. Medium bodied with a good hop note. The palate is bitter and tangy, just the way I like it. Tasty and very drinkable!
