Tap in a snifter at Village Tap during CCBW. near black pour with a thin khaki ring. Aroma is pure coffee. Deep, dark, wet coffee grounds. Very earthy and deliciously fragrant. Taste is coffee and whiskey. The coffee either takes the place or, or gives the representation of, the roasted malt flavor that is missing in Mean Gene. Better mouthfeel in this one, too. Moderately creamy with some booze left behind. This beer is like KBS’s slightly younger cousin who has a loud laugh. Still worth it.

Pours pitch black with very chocolately, finger of head . nose is chocolate, strong bourbon, vanilla, with a slight oaky aroma. Mouth very bourbony and boozy up front. Chocolate milk like/creamy texture with vanilla and roasted malt.

Had it on tap. Pours black with a rich, creamy, finger length, tan hed that does not dissipate. You can smell Woodford Reserve from a foot away. At a closer distance, I picked up aromas of dark chocolate and a bit of both woody and roasty notes. Really thick and creamy mouthfeel, bourbon and dark chocolate aftertaste. My only critique of this awesome beer is the bourbon may be too much.

22oz bottle, 3/2013 release, via Ratebeer Brackets. pours a dark brown with hints of burgandy that sits black in the glass capped by a effervescent khaki head that leaves a nice sheet of lace. aroma is excellent with heavy, dark, roasted coffee, cinnamon, toasted almonds, and wet earth backed by vanilla, oak, and subtle bourbon. flavor is outstanding as well with smooth, creamy notes of lactose, vanilla pudding, and dark chocolate brownies backed by toasted oak, bourbon, hazelnuts, and slightly fruity coffee beans. palate is medium bodied yet delivers a creamy mouthfeel ahead a coffee dominated finish. overall, and excellent barrel aged porter. i’ve been impressed with the efforts from Revolution thus far.

Bottle at AZ crews epic driveway tasting. Had this immediatly after the Mean Gene however I think i enjoyed this one slightly less. This also tastes of coffee, chocolate, molasses, vanilla, and bourbon sweetness. This is just a little more coffee and I think ratio was perfect in the other. also detected slight more alcohol here even though they are same abv. still awesome, creamy, drinkable and not too sweet
