Had it on tap. Pours black with a rich, creamy, finger length, tan hed that does not dissipate. You can smell Woodford Reserve from a foot away. At a closer distance, I picked up aromas of dark chocolate and a bit of both woody and roasty notes. Really thick and creamy mouthfeel, bourbon and dark chocolate aftertaste. My only critique of this awesome beer is the bourbon may be too much.

Draft at Jerry’s. Black with big, foamy, brown head, light wet lacing / Very rich, sweet nose of bourbon barrel, semisweet chocolate, caramel, roast coffee, coconut, cream / Medium to full body, a touch thin, sweet, moderately chewy, good hop balance but little bitterness peaking through / Flavors of bourbon barrel, prune, coconut, semisweet chocolate, caramel, cream / These young, aggressive, sweet bourbon barrel stouts don’t appeal to me. Over the top with no finesse.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Smells bourbon with a little licorice, pretty different for me considering my limited experience with porters/stouts. First couple of sips start off with a lot of bourbon flavor, but coffee quickly become the dominant note, backed by roasted nuts and bread. Slightly sweet but hardly noticeable; very little head but surprisingly effervescent. A really delightful brew.

Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Tones of deep brown & black with a chunky, khaki collar that transcends from the short-lived layer of foam on top. Aroma has oily, French roast coffee beans, light lactose-y sweetness, some faint maple syrup, & overall a very tame barrel character. Perhaps only a very light hint of wood & vanillin, not much bourbon at all. Taste has plenty more "barrel" to it, though, with lots of sharp barrel tannins up front... Oak, scraping coffee bean dryness, faint cola, milky chocolate, a touch of maple, & little traces of vanilla here & there. Again, light bourbon character, but the flavors are still very nice... Lightly astringent finish, & it could be just a tad thicker. Very nice stout, & while it’s definitely a bit different from the base, I think I still prefer original Eugene to this (all things considered).

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, shared by Jason I think. Pours opaque black with a small creamy head. Aromas are lightly roasted coffee beans, vanilla, and bourbon. Taste is strong bourbon with some nice vanilla and roasted coffee. Medium body. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Bourbon finish is a little harsh. Really nice aroma but it’s not smooth enough to be up there with the better BB porters.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours near black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla, a little chocolate, and some light hints of alcohol. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Smooth texture. A really good beer. It should probably be called an imperial porter though at 8.5%

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/4/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, light char, bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee, toast, light clove, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, toast, toffee, bourbon, oak, clove, light char, and roasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, moderately slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent BA coffee porter. All around great balance, robustness, and complexity of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is very nice, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, coffee, roasted malt, and some bittersweet chocolate. For the most part I think the taste is just like the aroma, but there’s also some milk chocolate and caramel noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s smooth and a bit slick with moderate carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good brew. Nice and tasty, and it’s also easy to drink. $16.99 a bomber and worth every penny. Might have to grab another one soon!
